I really can't believe that some people predicted less than 100m OW. It was evident by tracking that it would at least hit that. But this is an insane number. The OW is gonna go way over what most everyone predicted.

Why not? Thursday number is 17% higher, and it will be more family-oriented so should do better Thursday to Sunday legs.

 

Because Furious 7's Friday was basically a Saturday thanks to Easter, and it became a huge phenomenon as well thanks to a mixture of reasons. Don't see JW replicating the 52M that F7 made on Friday.

My 249M domestic prediction for BSG is looking a little low

So.......this will def get to 300M. Even if it only opens to 130M, all it would need is a hair over 2.3 and it's in. Frankly 350M is now on the table.

The way things are going for Universal... I think it's a done deal. Furious 7... $350M+ DOM. Jurassic World... $350M+ DOM. Minions is next. The marketing for all three's been phenomenal.

It wasn't just tracking. 62 million views for the first trailer main upload on YouTube, opening by itself, nothing major opening over Memorial Day weekend for the first time in years, nothing massive opening the two weeks before, the marketing materials ignoring the two sequels and making people think only of the first film etc.
