Mattrek
Holy fuckballs that's an incredible Monday hold. I guess demand still wasn't satisfied by Sunday. We could be looking at a sub 50% drop this weekend. Wow. This is by far the most impressive number of it's run so far. Maxmoser3
This movie could now do 75 million by today. That is some good news hopefully it gets well over 25 million for the weekend and holds up strong (even in September) considering that there is hardly any competition for this.

babz06
Great Monday number. This really is the movie everyone wanted to see in August., not F4 or Man from Uncle. And it has the rest of August plus september to get money. there s literally no competition until Maze Runner/black mass
baumer
Great hold for SOC. Tuesday won't be its finest day due to Canada, but its Wednesday drop shall be softer. Defo winning the weekend. I'm not sure what you mean here? The only reason why movies aimed primarily at a black audience don't go up much on Tuesdays here is because a lot of them don't play here. But Compton is definitely here and is in all major markets in Canada. http://www.tribute.ca/showtimes/movie/all/straight-outta-compton/107705/?datefilter=-2&geo=0#search The Tuesday bump will be significant, I promise you that.
dudalb
Universal studios has the golden goose this year. Sheesh. And just back a couple of years ago,it was pretty much the studio that seemed unable to do anything right. Quite a turnaround.
The Dark Alfred
Maybe I'm wrong but my thinking was that Canada accounts a lot of discount Tuesday and the film isn't as huge up there as in the States, but I'm rooting for a nice increase. Accursed Arachnid!™
The momentum for Universal/Legendary’s Straight Outta Compton hasn’t slowed coming off its stellar $60.2M opening weekend, racking up an estimated $7.47M at 2,757 on Monday. That’s a strong number for a Monday in August, considering that turnstiles slow as kids head back to school during mid-week. While last year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy‘s owns the biggest Monday in August at $11.7M, Compton slots ahead of the August Mondays for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ($6.67M), Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes ($6.65M) and G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra ($6.4M). Premium large format has also been key to Compton‘s success, repping 9% of the weekend B.O. with $5.1M. Uni is planning an awards push for theF. Gary Gray-directed film, and began Academy screenings on Saturday. SOC is R rated. Nice one, Deadline. If they had said it was impressive because college classes are back in session then that would have made more sense, but the implication made by them is solely directed at "kids heading back to school", or children heading back to grade school, which would not affect a film like SOC very much at all. They also proceed to compare it to films aimed at kids. It's a strong number, no doubt. But not for the reason implied by DL.
