MARY POPPINS RETURNS | Disney | 12.19.18 | Rob Marshall directing | Emily Blunt, Lin Manuel Miranda

Never really understood why Marshall gets so much flack? Unless it's just from people who hate musicals, then obviously most of his stuff isn't for you. I don't see how any other musical from the 00's decade is a better all around made film than Chicago though. Not an easy feat either for it to win BP as a musical. Into the Woods was solid. Nine was a dud, but this is still his element. With the right script and actors in his hands, doesn't surprise me he could hit a home-run.

Even Pirates 4 which was his first non musical wasn't that bad.

Chicago got a lot of flack for so many years but it seems like it's come around to being considered an underappreciated Best Picture winner because of it. I, for one, have always considered it a great movie, backlash be damned.

reallyre didn't agree with my comment it seems. but I'm right, pirates 4 looked cheap, the change in director really showed in that franchise. nothing the director has made gives me confidence in this film. it will end up rotten, Mark my words
