SLAM!
The recently-released trailer for Deepwater Horizon makes it look like it could go a little far. Do you think it has a shot, or do you think it's this year's Everest/The Walk?
AniNate
Not expecting much there. Peter Berg's war movie got solid but unspectacular reviews and I'm expecting the same there.
movieboner
I think Martin Scorsese's Silence has a shot of taking this trophy. Liam Neeson could win best supporting actor, he's overdue.

That's probably more likely to get Academy recognition, and even that seems to be unlikely.

AniNate
Sing Street might make a splash here. Once was snubbed by AMPAS but it still might've gotten their attention later.
CelestialFairyIX
Sadly, none of the animated films this year seem like good Best Picture contenders... that is, unless Finding Dory manages to pull off a TS3 which I highly doubt.

The Witch is a horror movie that, while well received, has a fair share of non-fans. Oh, and it's horror. Zootopia is an animated movie with less acclaim than Inside Out. If IO couldn't get nominated, Zootopia won't.

Horror movies haven't been Oscar fodder in a very long time, and Inside Out's snub just raised the acceptance bar crazy high for animation. And I really don't want the W-word-movie anywhere near any award ceremonies whatsoever. But that's just me.
stripe
http://thefilmexperience.net/best-picture/ This is a first look at possible contendents done by one of Oscar specialists. I' ve been following Nat Rogers for years and he usually gives interesting/smart choices. From his list, I would say Fences (didn't know about this), Birth of a Nation, Silence, Loving, Long Halftime Walk, and Zemeckis film are solid bets. Story of your life, Lion, Sully, la la land, Zookeeper's wife. Passengers and The founder could be contenders.

WrathOfHan
Reviews on Loving on good but not through the roof. It'll be safe for a nomination in Actress and maybe Actor depending on the competition. New BP predictions: Allied Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk Birth of a Nation Fences La La Land Light Between Oceans Machester by the Sea Silence Story of Your Life Sully
SLAM!
Don't count out The Accountant! That trailer for Ben Affleck's new movie seems like it'll be great. I don't know if action movies are really the Academy's thing, but you never know.
