WrathOfHan
So apparently Allied still has another month left of shooting and it's supposed to be out for Thanksgiving, I don't know if they can finish it in five months of post.

I see no reason why it can't make it.
AniNate
May be kinda slight for the academy but Love and Friendship got a wide expansion and critics are raving about it

Jake Gittes
Same thing happened with Mud (also same distributor, same time of year) but that didn't get it anywhere. Optimistically I'd predict an Adapted Screenplay nom for Stillman (who is known and was nominated before) and a Globe nom for Beckinsale, but I'd be pleasantly shocked if it went any further.
filmlover
Yeah, I loved Love & Friendship but it's probably too lightweight + too early to contend for Best Picture.
CoolioD1
Yeah maybe a costume nomination at best.
TStechnij
I could see Love and Friendshup picking up a couple noms considering how weak the early race is. Things will pop up, but for right now -- jeez. I'd say it could score these noms in order of likeliness-- Costume Design Adapted Screenplay (I think writers could really geek out about this.) Production Design Best Actress-Beckinsale (Could win the comedy globe.) Best Supporting Actor-Bennett Best Picture Kate and the costumes will probably be on my personal ballot.

SLAM!
Little Men is currently getting amazing reviews. But will it be a contender? Personally, I think it's got a shot at being like Boyhood. It's not as praised by any means, but it's certainly lauded nonetheless, so a great movie with a similar theme could hit the mark. Maybe. (I just realized I'm like a conversation starter. Is that okay?)

(I just realized I'm like a conversation starter. Is that okay?) I doubt that Little Men is going to be an awards contender. None of Ira Sachs' other movies made a big impact. The problem is that it's not Oscar season yet. Come back in about 3 months, and I'm sure this part of the site will be busy.

Alpha
My first (real) guesses for the Top 10 right now: Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk The Birth of a Nation Fences La La Land Live by Night (if WB decides on a December platform release) Loving Manchester by the Sea Moonlight Silence 20th Century Women
Rorschach
The Birth of a Nation and La La Land look so freakin' good that I'm honestly more excited for them than I am for Fantastic Beasts or Rogue One.

filmlover
I think if Live By Night were to get a qualifying release they would've announced it upfront when the date moved up to January. That's what happened when American Sniper joined the release schedule two years ago.
