I just read The Bronze was suppose to be limited but the studio decided to give it a wide release instead-they must regret that now!

It was originally picked up from Sundance by Relativity last year with a contractual agreement for a wide release, but then that studio went into turmoil so SPC picked it up with the agreement still in place. Just the latest Sundance acquisition to endure such a fate following Hamlet 2, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, and more.

Hahaha Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller aren't even promoting Allegiant on their Twitter accounts. They really don't give a fuck anymore.

Teller didn't give a fuck while doing the FIRST movie - he said it killed his soul.

I'm surprised he had a worse experience with Divergent than he did with Fant4stic.

He should just stay away from big-budget movies for now on.

He still has a lot of promising projects coming up though including that Todd Philips comedy with Jonah Hill later this year so no need to feel sorry for him.

QUESTION....

Does anyone think maybe Deadpool's numbers were fudged?????

there is the article about the 'ghost screens' for IP Man 3 in China and I remember looking at those Deadpool #s....  How did it get such big Thursday preview #'s????  Were Deadpool theaters really that full for that long???

1. Because it was anticipated by fans, and 2. Because it was a Marvel movie that had no competition when it opened. WTH made you think Deadpool of all movies is fudged. Are you really comparing it to IP Man 3? And since when is a much anticipated superhero movie opening with $12.7 million from Thursday previews, which began at 7PM on 2,975 screens, considered fudging.

Incredible run by Zootopia.  WDFA could be looking at two potential 300 m grossers if Moana breaks out.

Back to back 300m grossers would be great.

Even Pixar hasn't managed that - not even in separate years. The closest they came was UP (293m, 2009) and TS3 (415m, 2010).

Adjusted for inflation they have managed it very easily though.

ZOOTP, DORY and MOANA are going to make 2016 an even bigger for animation than 2015.

That's just unprofessional.

But, doesn't surprise me, it is well known he is a first class douchebag.

Shia LaBeouf 2.

Was 2015 that big overall, though? I think both 2013 and 2010 were probably bigger.

Yes those years were bigger than 2015.

2013 had FROZEN, DM2, MU and CROODS among the top ones.

2010 had TS3, DM, HTTYD, TANGLED, MEGA MIND among the top ones.

I think 2010 seems the biggest and tough to beat.

So 2013 is currently well in the lead for biggest animated years.

2016's top 10 is probably going to be something like this:

  1. Finding Dory
  2. Zootopia
  3. Secret Life of Pets
  4. Moana
  5. Angry Birds
  6. KFP 3
  7. Ice Age Collision Course
  8. Trolls
  9. Storks
  10. Kubo

Sing and Sausage Party could also be in the mix. It might challenge 2013 and 2014 for the number of 50m grossing films, and 2012 and 2015 for the number of 100m grossers. I don't think it'll challenge 2010 for the 200m record, though.

I actually think it can indeed challenge 2010 for the 200M record. Zootopia's a go already, and Finding Dory is an absolute lock too. Moana surely has to make it. The Secret Life Of Pets is more than likely gonna make it too, in spite of the rough competition - let's not pretend that promotion so far hasn't been every bit as fantastic as it was for Zootopia. And then we have a few wildcards like Angry Birds, Ice Age and Sing that could break out. It's no guarantee that it'll beat 2010, but I think it can invoke a challenge here.

Thanks for compiling the lists. It's helpful and clears things up.

I have added TOP 5 totals to your 2010 and 2013 lists.

  5. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 - 119.8

TOP 5 - 1344.3M

TOP 10 - 1737.9M

2010

  1. Toy Story 3 - 415.0
  2. Despicable Me - 251.5
  3. Shrek Forever After - 238.7
  4. How to Train Your Dragon - 217.6
  5. Tangled - 200.8

TOP 5 - 1323.6M

TOP 10 - 1555.7M

So 2013 is currently well in the lead for biggest animated years.

2016's top 10 is probably going to be something like this:

  1. Finding Dory
  2. Zootopia
  3. Secret Life of Pets
  4. Moana
  5. Angry Birds
  6. KFP 3
  7. Ice Age Collision Course
  8. Trolls
  9. Storks
  10. Kubo

Sing and Sausage Party could also be in the mix. It might challenge 2013 and 2014 for the number of 50m grossing films, and 2012 and 2015 for the number of 100m grossers. I don't think it'll challenge 2010 for the 200m record, though.

I was just glancing at the top 4-5 animated films each year, so thought 2010 > 2013.

2013 TOP 5 are still bigger than 2010 TOP 5 but it's close : 1344.3M vs 1323.6M

2013 TOP 10 are much bigger than 2010 TOP 10 : 1737.9M vs 1555.7M

So #6-#10 made a big difference

I think 2016 TOP 10 has a decent shot at replacing 2013 TOP 10:

DORY 425M

ZOOTP 300M

MOANA 250M

PETS 150M

KFP 3 140M

ICE AGE 140M

ANGRY BIRDS 125M

TOP 7 = 1530M

Leaving #8, #9, #10 (TROLLS, STORKS, KUBO/SP) to do 210M (70M each) to overtake 2013, for a TOP 10 total of 1530 + 210 = 1740M.

I think STORKS could to 100M and decrease the burden from TROLLS and KUBO/SP.

Easter has begun here. Kung Fu Panda 3 opened as big as Zootopia 3 weeks ago. And Zootopia, London Has Fallen and Allegiant had very small drops from last weekend. Daddy's Home and PPZ bombed but whatever.
