Because an RT score approaching single digits was enough to convince everyone who was only half-invested in the series to jump off completely. Also, the main villain was defeated at the end of the second movie.

I think the fact that no one really likes the third book also has a lot to do with it

Only 8m for BvS after it made 23m last weekend? Whoa, that is disgustingly bad

O_O really? if that this is true the film may not even reach $330m.. that would be less then a 2x multiplier. that is bad really bad.

Sing Street also has the problem of being about an inherently niche subject and having no stars in the cast. The most recognizable names are Aidan Gillen and Maria Doyle Kennedy, who are character actors.

There are so many movies on the indie circuit that I'm intrigued by and won't get around to seeing. Sing Street, Everybody Wants Some, The Meddler, Green Room. And I haven't seen Hello My Name is Doris and Midnight Special (although that's about to disappear).

A Hologram for the King is also of interest although it's really fascinating, and kinda sad for me, that a Tom Hanks film is now a low-key release. How the times have the changed.

28.2m true Friday for JB. 25% up on Sat would be 35.25m

32.4 + 35.25 (+25% from true Fri) + 23.95 (-32%) = 91.6m

90m is a lock. 95m also realistic.

(Only using the March opening Disney remakes here)

If JB performs like Alice In Wonderland: 32.4 + 35.64 + 22.8 = 90.87

Cinderella performance: 32.4 + 37.9 + 24.9 = 95.2

Oz The Great And Powerful performance: 32.4 + 44.3 + 29.5 = 106.3

So the floor here is pretty much locked at 90M, w/an Oz like performance being the preferable target. Unbelievable. Just the fact that this has done as much as 90M on opening weekend is mega impressive, but that it has a genuine shot at beating 100M makes it extra crazy. Between Deadpool, Zootopia and now this, as well as the sadomasochistically funny crash and burn of BVS, 2016 has been a little pot of surprises. Box office is awesome, you guys.

Deadlines multipliers are terrible again

1). The Jungle Book (DIS), 4,028 theaters / $32.4M Fri. (includes $4.2M previews) / 3-day cume: $87M to $88M / Wk 1

That would pretty much require it to stay near flat today.
