They should've just kept it on its original release weekend (last weekend when The Huntsman tanked) instead of this one. The audience that might have shown up for it will just sit out and wait for Captain America next weekend now.

Keanu seems totally destined to become a cult classic, though, and find a big time life on home video and cable TV. At least judging from reviews/reactions. That's something.

Agreed. This was always going to be more a cult hit than a mainstream one.

Open Road's Mother's Day brought in $225,000. By comparison, Ricki and the Flash brought in $200,000before opening with $6.6 million, though it was opening in just over half of the number of theaters Mother's Dayis playing in this weekend.

LMAO

Well, at least the 10M CSG question is only worth 1k.

Mothers Day: 250k

THANK.

GOD.

Keanu not off to a great start, but not bad either. Will probably finish in the 12-13M OW range, hopefully it'll leg itself all the way to a decent run. W/a 15M budget, and not that much advertising, it should make a profit.

More like a $3.5M opening day. The fan base of those two no doubt will lead to some frontloading.

Huh?

So Huntsman2, a tentpole sequel with huge stars and awful reviews, opens to almost 20M after 950k previews, but an original comedy with not that known actors and ok reviews will be more frontloaded and barely cross 10M?

It's obvious that, with only 560k, Keanu is not exactly a frontloaded film.

Key & Peele have a very niche target audience and the marketing hasn't done much to transcend those limitations, good reviews or not. Between a muted marketing campaign, niche appeal, and Captain America looming around the corner, there's no reason to believe this will perform like an older-targeted title.
