Granted I haven't seen this movie, but I'm highly confident the big difference between this and Emoji will be that one has heart and soul and an actual story, while the other is nothing but lifeless product placements.

Yeah I cant wait to see how the Princessess, Marvel, Muppets, Pixar, Star Wars, etc etc forward the story and add soul.

I can *kind of* see an argument for the internet ads since this is (supposed to be) a movie about the internet, but as someone else said, this looks like a not so humble brag from Disney showing off their assets.

Admittedly, the one thing I do appreciate is having Muppets on equal footing next to Star Wars and Pixar in the OMD shot, like they rightfully deserve to be. I'd kill for a universe where the Muppets were bigger than the MCU.

Hate to be that guy, but that was awful. Yall are tripping over yourselves because of the princesses, but that trailer was a monumental step backwards from the first. The Princesses, the Star Wars, the Amazon, the Snapchat, the Facebook, the Marvel, the Google, it was all too egregious and corporate for me. The movie doesn't look like Ralph wrecking pornhub and clickbait, it looks like a 100 minute long conglomerate advertisement. At this point they'll probably make references to the streaming service, Bob Iger, ESPN, ABC, and Fox.

Yeah the princess bit was witty, "should I call the police?", but still, just looks way too egregious, way too commercial, way too obvious. Seeing Snapchat doesn't make me go "lol hey it's snapchat, har har har." It makes me go "snapchat pissed off all the users so now they're using this movie to advertise and get back relevant." They are using a kids movie to advertise.

Emoji Movie tried the same exact thing and yall shat all over it and condemned them. "Sony lol", "this is literally what movies have become", "shame on Sony", "all this product placement". Disney does the same exact thing and yall are acting like this is a baptism. I don't get it. The ending was meta, but that doesn't make it funny.

Nothing but one giant commercial ad disguised as a kid's movie. I've worked in marketing and even I think this is bad. Already can't stand the hypocrisy either. Sony does it, it's considered a low point for movies. Disney does it, and does it worse, lmao princesses and star wars and amazon yeahhhhhhhhh boyyyyyyyy can't wait to go to Target Amazon and buy all the merch!

How do you go from Zootopia and Moana to this. I don't get it and I don't get the praise.

Oh my.

You think those are in there because of paid product placement??

The Disney Princess bit actually shits all over Disney and Pixar.  It is pretty scathing in many parts.  It is self-referential in a good way.

The companies are not in there for paid advertisements or product placements.

Lol.  No.

It shows them (and the princess) ripping on themselves.

Yes, it does make it fun for people to see Storm Troopers and Iron Man and Princesses, but the movie roasts Disney about it in many parts.

Sony came up with a bad idea for a film, or rather, they had a so-so idea and turned it awful.

This is the sequel to one of Disney's more recent moneymakers, one that was full on video game reference the first go around. And considering everything from Bolt to Moana has been good to spectacular from Disney, it's very easy to say that that will be a katrillion times better than Emoji Movie.

Grace says that Disney should make a Disney princess team up movie.  Not sure that would work. What exactly are they supposed to do?

Think of how Marvel does their team-up movies: What about them as characters, how would they interact with each other? That's part of the potential novelty/charm of such a film using iconic cartoon characters. What would they contribute if say they're together on a team-up adventure? Well look at some of them from recent times: Ice powers (Elsa), magic hair powers (Rapunzel), archery (the BRAVE girl), improvisational knack this side of John McClaine (Mulan), water-control powers (Moana), the smart one* (Belle), etc.

A challenge will be doing something with those early Princesses (Snow White, Aurora, etc.) who quite frankly were cyphers. I mean what's their distinct personality traits other than they're nice? Not an impossible hurdle to overcome, but they'll have to flesh them out.

*=LOL I know because "she reads books!" but I'm working with what I've got here.

There's a webcomic artist who does Pocket Princess which has all the Disney Princesses interact with one another. Get her.

I say this as a Marvel hack......I would too.

Oh I know. I'm just saying if Disney wanted to make that movie, its not exactly Mission Impossible.

For the record I dont just pick on Disney. I just yesterday was talking about how much I enjoyed my trip to Disneyland last year - while wearing a Disney shirt I bought before I even knew I was going. It is what it is. But you cant sit here and tell me there’s no blatant hypocrisy when it comes to what Disney does vs others. This forum in particular has a very strong pro-Disney, anti-Sony/Paramount/LGF mindset, and Ive seen a lot of “lol WB sucks” comments lately.

I dont care about the quality, it’s irrelevant to me. Doesnt change the fact that this is a movie about going into the internet yet features stormtroopers, a virtual Disneyworld, and the entire princess graduating class.

So? So since the Princesses tell ya mama jokes at Disney then its all good. Yeah, nah. If Sony puts a Playstation in a movie and calls it an Xbox, its still Sony’s Playstation - and yall will still call it out “because Sony sucks.”

Dont care if Disney is roasted, grilled, barbecued, sauté, flambé, dont matter. Its one giant corporate ad, no different than Emoji or Lego. WIR didnt give off that type of vibe and I thought it was good.

Only difference here is the reactions because it’s X studio over Y studio.
