This film is almost entirely dependent on the performance of the actor portraying Simon. Robinson nailed it, particularly the nonverbal aspects of the performance. I have much less confidence Mendes would have been as effective in the role given his inexperience as an actor.

I Wikipedia’d him, my original comment was extreme. 

 

But he hasn’t had 4 smashes here, three out of 10 have been top 10 only one was a number 1. All appear to be very short lived on the charts.

I just saw this and meh. The first half was great the second half dragged too much, 6/10, could have been one of those netflix teen movies

Dam, this movie is so sweet and heartwarming, and really funny too even though the ending is a little manipulative.

Nick Robinson is very charismatic but he definitely dances like a straight white male

would be funny to see Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott accept a Teen Choice Award with their roles in Role Models.  Energy drink salesman going to high schools to sell the kids energy drinks and having emotional breakdowns at the podium in front of the teens & start shouting at the microphone.

I don't think they do best comedy at MTV Movie Awards.  

They do 'Movie of the Year', and 'Best Comedic Performance'.

This movie was great. Love Simon and Paper Towns should have been much bigger at the box office, both are some of the greatest teen films ever made.

I don't know the layout there either.  Not sure if they do Blockbuster Entertainment Awards still.  They probably have free streams of the Teen Choice 2018 awards somewhere.

This movie was so, so great. I loved it so much.

Love, Simon was too 'PG' for me.  The happy drawn out ending with the moral resolution/lessons learned made me feel like I was wasting my time watching it.  The film lost about 1/2 of a grade because of that.  But comedies are my least favorite genre.
