Not happening. And its $160 million+ on a $4.5 million production cost will already make it one of the most successful films of all time.

To be fair, this movie deserve to get $200m+

It's original movie, which deserve more love

From Deadline.....

Disney is calling the weekend safely at $170M (all records mentioned still stand) due to an estimated Sunday that’s down 31%, but the whole town believes that Beauty and Beast has nowhere to go, but up.

imo they really need to get the casting right for Aladdin, among other things. I can easily see it facing backlash for whitewashing, culture appropriation, etc.

After the right wing nuts bashed Avatar, neo nazis bashed TFA and RO and the fundies attacked the gayness of BatB, I'm more confident than ever that these people have zero impact on box office.

If anything pissing them off improves your chances of making the all-time top ten DOM list. :P

You are goddamn lost with what millenials think. Emma Watson's casting as Belle pulled a lot of the young adults into this live action remake. Cast an unknown as Belle and you'll see 100 million OW. Cast Emma Watson as Belle and you'll see 170 million opening.

Emma Watson as Belle is genius casting. She fits the role perfectly, well minus the high caliber singing chops. The young generation don't care if you're an Oscar winner or not, what's important is your social media presence and likability. That's where Emma won.

yes she is. Sometimes if the public has certain idea who embodies an iconic character, go with it. Jolie was everyone's idea of Malficent and that worked. Watson is a perfect Belle. That works too.

Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones & Emma Watson are the biggest draws of modern box office as far as actresses are concerned no doubt.

Your jealousy is showing. Felicity Jones had zero impact. Emma Watson had a big impact on BATB's gross.

Watson's true starpower test will come with The Circle.

Not really because true star power doesn't exist anymore. I am 100% sure the combination of the brand and Emma Watson was what pushed this o such an high opening. Genius casting by Disney. The Circle will most likely do soft numbers but that won't change the fact that Tom Hanks and Emma Watson combined with the right material can be huge draws.

The Futurist always goes nuts when an actress who isn't JLaw experiences significant success (although there's no question Watson brought a lot more to Beauty and the Beast than Jones did for Rogue One).

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs adjusted absolutely destorys Lion King.

I can play your game too.

Adjusted is a bad way to compare movies.

Actually, it's barely ahead in tickets sold domestically unless you count re-releases and even then there's less distance between Lion King and Snow White and Frozen and Lion King.

From BOM: Domestic Ticket estimates

Frozen:   49,041,000 tickets

Lion King:  74,624,400  tickets ( 89,146,400  with re-releases)

Snow White:  77,471,100 (109m with re-reelases)

Smart and when estimates goes up 4-5M then even more positive headlines.
