Really depends on what you're looking for, but usually the most important takeaway for just a casual glance is the comp.  More on that in a bit.   But even that is highly dependent on a movie being either in a similar genre or having a similar pre-sale pattern as folks will buy tickets at different times during a pre-sale window thanks to a very long list of factors.   Add in that movies will have different promotional schedules during their pre-sales (review embargoes, TV ca

For big movies, they'll tend to get a dedicated spoiler thread.  Otherwise spoiler thoughts are left in the film's Review That Movie thread (RTM thread for short).

 

@Mulder has been around the forums for long enough, so she knows the score. :)

 

Just depends on whether or not a spoiler thread will be put up for KotM or not.

Pika Pika predictably looking to have a bit more bounce than JW and AEG, which had really good Mondays. I know it’s discount Tues, but I was really hoping/expecting more from Aladdin. Should be an easy 2nd place tomorrow.

Fandango and MT.com actually lined up for once when it comes to a non-mega blockbuster film hitting #1 at the same time.  Potential good sign on pre-sales at the very least.

IMAX 3D: 2 showings - 43 seats sold out of 302 (14.24%)
Real 3D: 4 showings - 19 seats sold out of 402 (4.73%)
Digital: 3 showings - 83 seats sold out of 326 (25.46%)

 

Totals: 11 showings - 267 seats sold out of 1440 (18.54%)

SInce @Mulder isn't here, I'll say it for her:  That's not a great sign for Aladdin  that it is actually behind Pikachu 1 day before opening night.

 

Any sense whether or not Pika PIka overperformed at your theater?

Hooo boy. Aladdin is literally teetering from rotten to fresh on RottenTomatoes right now. Rotten one minute, fresh the next. I actually think 1 or 2 reviews could be the difference in some of the strength of its legs. Big difference from marketing and wom saying "It's fresh on Rotten Tomatoes!" vs just ignoring it if it turns permanently rotten.

I'll do an an actual count tomorrow morning for Aladdin, but for now Thursday and Friday aren't looking any stronger than Pikachu and John Wick 3. It's certainly not looking like more than $60M 3-day locally and that matches with tracking, but Fandango and MT presales are pretty strong, so.... this all feels pretty vexing honestly

Thats where I’m at. I’m having a hard time making a prediction for this because locally it’s in the ballpark of Pikachu and John Wick 3 which goes along with tracking if you consider that it has a family angle to it. I’ve also decided to take a look at FSS at my theater and it’s not selling all that better than either of those films either. 

 

Given the sales on Fandango and MT, I’m gonna just guess that my theater is underperforming for whatever reason.
