The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

Waiting THIS long to put tickets on sale seems kind of weird to me. Monday/Tuesday are when Canada's major chains update their bookings (Landmark and Cineplex). They update from the upcoming Friday through the following Thursday, and if a movie opens on a Thursday, tickets (for that day at least) are up for sale.

But every theatre I look at literally just has an empty auditorium for Thursday night. Working at the theatre for over 4 years, I never saw that happen.

FYI I just scrapped MTC1 and already 661 shows are there for Birds of Prey. This is without major theaters listing shows. So its going to have a big preview release.

FYI pre online ticket sales start it has sold 645 tickets(through Box office). So this will have big previews, most likely bigger than Bad Boys 3. Let us see how PS goes tomorrow but I am expecting a fast start. Joker sold more than 1000 tickets just at AMC Empire. I doubt this will be close but that would be my benchmark.

This was sometime this afternoon and I was hoping to see a big boost bcos of Atom/Tmobile offer. But nothing big so far though numbers overall are bigger than where Bad Boys was around this time 🙂

Yeah, still trucking along fine. At the very least, this is much more positive compared to Maleficent and especially Dolittle.

The T-Mobile deal isn't supposed to start until February 11. Long way to go

And one last thing before I clock out tonight. While I was prepping things up earlier today, I noticed that F9 showtimes are up, though not available for purchase yet. Either way, getting tickets out this early is definitely...a choice.

Quick check just at MTC1 for new openers. Numbers suck but its higher than where Turning was last week but below Gentlemen. But its all about what these movies do on thursday.

The Rhythm Section  - overall 297 shows 1398/38414 18948.93 14770.67
Gretel and Hansel - overall 373 shows 1649/52757 21322.49 16399.40

MTC1 (T-2)

Gretel and Hansel- overall 533 shows 2596/75900 33916.88 +947
Rhythm Section - overall 471 shows 2246/58115 30325.64 +848

Rhythm did slightly better % wise increase but both numbers are awful. Both are looking at sub 0.5m previews barring huge final day jump.

Holy smokes, my theater has F9 times listed too.

Maybe the trailer has something crazy in it that'll break the internet.

Huh, the cinemark by me has times listed too:

5pm start time, 3h15m between XD shows so if these are the actual times it's gotta be less than 2h30 long.

Tickets for BOP just went on sale in Greece.Out of nowhere. No announcement whatsoever. But it will get the blockbuster treatment by having Wednesday previews. I don’t expect it to have strong presales but Joker didn’t had a fraction of the presales of Endgame and look at it now.Greece is not a presales heavy country but WOM can work wonder for a film.

Sure. Thankfully its a short PS run. I will update daily.

FYI AMC Empire 25 has 37 shows listed for BOP( 3 imax/3 dolby/3 prime and 28 2d shows). Interesting there are no 3D shows for BO. That is huge though Lincoln Square show count is not at blockbuster level. But if sales pick up fast then the shows will get added.

What time does the PS start?
