The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

For anyone who's thinking about doing tracks of Paw Patrol, looks like Regal is boycotting it here in the States, as Eric discovered in the WE thread.

For locals that have a shared market, could cause overindexing at MTC1/2. Even if it doesn't those two chains will take up more of the share of the market than they normally do with Regal sitting this one out (unless there is a change in the next few days).

Is there a chance something moves up to September? The absence of Venom is brutal

I could see Last Duel moving up to the 17th. It would easily be #1 that weekend with all PLFs and hot off its Venice premiere two weeks earlier.

I'm hoping NTTD moves up a week to October 1. And then I feel like something like Jackass Forever should move up to September

I’d move Jackass to Sept, too. It has buzz and a trailer that’s played constantly in theaters. Feels like an easy win for Paramount. I also had the feeling it would have beat Dune

Either way, something on Oct 15 has to give up between Halloween and Last Duel, right?

I’d never heard of this film until now, just IMDb’d it. Love Jodie Comer, but not my kind of thing. Looks like it’ll appeal to older audiences, hopefully doesn’t end up another Stillwater.

As others have said, no Paw Patrol in Regals, but the others are making up for it.

SJ2 was very pre-sales heavy. How is Boss Baby comp?

Boss Baby had only sold 48 tickets for Thursday at this point so 4.4x and 5.76m OD.  I don't usually track Fridays for movies with previews except for a Tuesday and Friday morning check.  Boss Baby passed Paw Patrol's number at some point on Wednesday and ended with 456 by Thursday afternoon.
