Escape Room is doing very well. The late show has already sold 50 tickets, so this might end up at double Overlord when all is said and done. I will keep this updated.

Beale Street is also doing great. I can't compare it to The Favourite/Vice/Mary QOS bc those were all stuck into the smallest auditoriums vs the biggest here. The late show is currently empty.

321% of Winchester (29.9M)

163% of Strangers 2 (17M)

57% of A Quiet Place (28.8M)

44% of The Nun (23.9M)

757% of Hell Fest (38.8M)

 

Definitely think this has a good shot to reach 20M now. Han's theater has it doubling from Overlord, so that makes me even more confident. Along with potential strength from holdovers, this will be a great kick-off to the new year.

My only question mark here is the 4 PM start. A lot of schools are still out, so previews will be inflated a little bit. 20M is definitely possible tho

I knew $12M or $13 was too low for ESCAPE ROOM. It's got an interesting enough premise that it's going to draw in a decent size crowd on OW, especially the biggest horror audience - teenagers - who are usually looking for something completely different after all the standard holiday fare.

Beale Street:

7:00: 51/104

10:00: 7/104

Final Total: 58/208

 

Escape Room did 190% of Overlord (19.5M) and 300% of Hannah Grace (19.2M). With the 4 PM show removed, that respectively goes down to 150% (15.3M) and 240% (15.4M). The comps here are definitely consistent, so I wonder where it could land 🤔

The trailer of Escape Room is very solid IMO.
From Pulse yesterday it had ca. the same sold tickets as Overlord when I counted it but in only 9 minutes, Overlord had 50/15 minutes back then. And Overlord was more of a niche film I think with less walk ups.

MT before the Friday update:

#1 Aquaman 21.7%
#2 MPR 16.6%
#3 Spider-Man 10.4%
#4 Bumblebee 7.7%
#5 Escape Room 6.8% - for comparison Overlord had 3.6% at that time (and also 3.6% after the Friday update; ER should be #4 then).
