Just sit back and watch the extraordinary boxoffice run. This is my 1st real post on IT (after being amazed by its opening)...I'm commenting solely on many posters who are starting to see a strong possibility of a Top 5 DOM spot...it's possible, but it's gonna have to start holding better to not fall behind...that's not moving goal posts, that's not making it disappointing...that's commenting on the yearly race for the top, and the reality of the BO needed to get there and the holds needed to make that happen... I love that IT even has a small chance for the top 5, since you're talking to the person who LOVES the non-sequel/remake/reboot concept (on top of my supers love)...the only thing that would have probably made me happier is if we were talking Dunkirk or Baby Driver for a top 5 spot, since they were both more "original"... But, I'm realistic, too...
Mojoguy
IT's run will always be more impressive than SMH's run. SMH merely did expected numbers. IT blew all other horror movies away. IT did on OW what other horror movies dream of doing DOM. Edited September 26, 2017 by Mojoguy
Mojoguy
Also IT has 1/5 the budget of SMH.

I'm not disagreeing with you...I hope IT will start to hold better, I hope the closer to Halloween, the more horror fans go out for this or see a repeat...I'd love a Top 5 movie at the end of the year that wasn't a sequel, remake, prequel, or reboot...but, we're not there, yet... And (this is probably heresy from me), I'd love to see non-supers, non-Star Wars, and non Beauty and the Beast remakes break up the top 5...it's healthier on the overall market to not rely on just one or two movie types...now, don't get me wrong - I want to see good supers put up great numbers...but I want to see other great movies do that, too...I mean, if a great RomCom ever came back, I'd be all over cheering for that in a top 5 spot, too...

It's like saying Angry Birds or The Spongebob Movie were remakes...
UNDERDOG
Eh, IT made all the money it needed to and then some on opening day. Everything after that is just gravy for me.

I was all set to come in here and post something similar. The legs on this are not great. The opening and second weekend hold was terrific but the third week and then this Monday numbers are not so hot.

LonePirate
IT will likely finish with legs somewhere in the 2.6-2.8 range, which is a healthy multiplier for a horror film. I think people are unfairly expecting ridiculous multipliers after Split and Get Out. IT was never going to be a WOM giant given its massive OW. It's going to be a long time before we see another horror movie open north of $100M or cross $300M domestically.
