Wow that was just impressively mediocre. Somehow made me miss Venom.

It felt like a bad Netflix film that accidentally made it onto big screen. Some horribad CGI and a really disjointed plot that went all over the place. It's crazy you have this much talent mismanaged but then again this is Sony we're talking about.

Ok, gotta see this now.

Any guess on CinemaScore for Morbius?

I'll be watching it soon.

Won't be surprised if it doesn't break even.

It seems this movie has a 75 million budget.

Dark Phoenix made 252 million worldwide on a 200 million budget. I think Morbius could get that number and end up being a minor sucess in that regard.

For those who watched it, is Morbius watchable? Someone told me the movie feels like old Underworld movies ( those with Kate Beckinsale ), which I loved.

The trailer looks bad, so I'm not surprised. I really hope this bombs along with other Spider projects they are doing on their own, so Sony realizes that Kevin Feige is the way to go.

Spider-Man NWH and Venom 2 (both Sony films) outgrossed every MCU film last year. There’s no way Sony is giving Spider-Man and Co up haha

Shame. I really hope Morbius flops.

Looks terrible. Just hearing it's logical problems and just lack of work put into it...lack of passion. They are desperately trying to rush this Sinister Six to fight Spider Man, no matter what. Literally, no matter what. Lol. It's not exciting already just by the... AWFUL buildup.

Really getting tired of this Sony shitty formula. Terrible scripts, led by big famous actors with budgets from 75-120M that is noticeable in trailers. (And this goes from Venom to Uncharted and now Morbius and already Kraven)

What's really frustrating is the GA continuing to eat this shit up.

As a fan of Marvel also, I worry how these Sony movies could hurt the Marvel brand.

Few critics here in France are out and it's very bad :

Ecran Large - 0.5/5

"Total saturation in the face of Morbius, abyss of nullity, so empty and insipid that there are no longer even words to define it. After Venom, Sony is in any case building the greatest of Hollywood's edifices of cinematic nothingness."

IGN - 3/10 -

"No matter how hard we look, and even try to save something, we don't really see how to recommend this new Sony film in the Marvel universe. Or simply for that: the Marvel universe is vast, who knows which characters will come back where and when, so if necessary we have a tragic origin story here - not in its story but in its realization.

CineSerie - 1/5

"Besides the presence of Matt Smith to keep the audience on their toes, “Morbius” is desolate on all levels, with a flat and deja vu script taken away by mediocre action scenes."

https://www.cineserie.com/critiques/cine/morbius-jared-leto-en-super-vampire-anecdotique-5005689/

Premiere - Mid/bad review

"Sorely lacking in originality, including in its special effects (pseudo bullet time in 2022, seriously?), Morbius suffers from the same ailments as its big brother Venom. Namely those of a super villain who is made up as anti -hero, crudely emphasizing his duality and lack of accountability, while dressing him up as a cartoonish antagonist to show he's not that bad after all. Except that Venom was at least making the effort to entertain us by daring the ridiculous, where Morbius is desperately serious and painful."

ComicsBlog - 0/5

""The pacing and plot move fast and don't bother with inconsistencies, the writing is strawberries, the production is crumbling under questionable-at-best, if not downright-ugly art direction, and it's all wrapped up in a marketing process. which we realize throughout the film all the cynicism. Even for fun, even "to form one's own opinion", there is really nothing that can justify validating the studio's approach in any way whatsoever. Although we know that such a paper will necessarily bring attention, we really hope that if you go to the end of these lines, we will have succeeded in convincing you to go and support any other form of cinema this week . Morbius is laughing at you, and there is absolutely nothing that requires you to accept it."

CNET - Bad review

"Morbius makes fun of the character and the treated universe, dissolves it to the extreme, to deliver a new can of detergent without soul and without interest. If one or two action scenes, and a few rare ideas will grab your retina, you will forget this new Marvel the second you leave the cinema. Too dedicated to the construction of Sony's famous Spider-verse (which notably prepares Kraven), Morbius simply forgets to be a good film."

As somebody who relatively loathed the last Venom movie, if this is worse then I’m actually even more interested than I was. I almost cannot believe anything could be possibly worse than that.

Why do we put ourselves through these things?  glutton for punishment.

So I actually went to each review and and translated them through google.....and for those saying this may be a "so bad it's good" don't get your hopes up. The movie apparently takes itself too seriously and doesn't have the type "eating a live lobster out of a tank at a restaurant" energy that Venom had nor does it do anything interesting with the character itself.

The only thing that some of those critics kinda found amusing was Matt Smith. Other than that almost every review just found this film bizarre, disjointed, and plain ugly to look at.
