Agreed. They all find some level of humanity in wildly off-the-wall characters, which makes the film's occasional shifts toward a serious tone work despite the zaniness of everything surrounding it.

I think Metcalf deserved it but Janney was a full on great monster in the movie and she's done great work for years.
