I mean, despite having women in the starring roles, it's not exactly like these are targeted at a broad swath of women. They're targeted at action dude bros.

What the fuck are you talking about, have you seen Red Sparrow? Action dudebros ain't gonna like it at all.

tbh, I was thinking mainly about ATOMIC BLONDE. But I still hold my general opinion that RED SPARROW isn't primarily targeting women.

I think Panther will hit $42-43m for the weekend. Deadline's early Friday projection seems too low, but we'll see how it goes.

It definitely needs at least 10m Friday for that target. And that’s assuming the sat bump is 100%+, which is a hefty goal even for BP’s great Saturdays.

They'd have to be about $1m too low on the high end

BP is facing some direct competition in it's strongest demo so not surprising if it dips more than last week.

Runtimes without credits and trailer attachments for next week:

Tomb Raider: 1:53. Attachments unknown.
Love, Simon: 1:46. Attachment is Deadpool 2 (NEW TRAILER)

I Can Only Imagine: 1:46. Attachments are The Miracle Season and Unbroken 2

7 Days in Entebbe: 1:39. Attachment is Tully

For Tomb Raider, probably RPO and Rampage.

Having seen both of those movies, they owe much more to John le Carre than to James Bond. So relatively speaking, they've done fine.

I liked Red Sparrow but it pales compared to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy or The Night Manager.

Forecasting Sparrow with an 11M weekend:

Mar 9: 11M (4.2M weekdays, 38.2M Total)

Mar 16: 7.3M (3M weekdays, 48.5M Total)

Mar 23: 4.8M (1.7M weekdays, 55M Total)

Mar 30: 2.5M (800k weekdays, 58.3M Total)

Apr 6: 1.1M (300k weekdays, 59.7M Total)

Final Total: 62M (3.67x)

This should end up as a good profit for Fox. Now just imagine how much it could've done if the movie was above average.

$8-9.5 million does seem too low for a Friday increase. Then again, Deadline were right on the money with their $16 million early Friday number last week.

With a $69m budget and hefty P&A?  Profit will depend more on how it does WW.

If it maintains the 40/60 DOM/WW split, it'll make double the budget. Once home media is factored in, Fox is in the green.

It's making 11M this weekend? i kinda doubt it, but if so that's great

Anyways, those stupid arguments that JLaw isn't a draw anymore can be put to bed. Both this and Joy made/will make nearly 60M with mixed reviews, and Passengers hit 100M. When she has another GA friendly movie that has good reviews, it'll gross a good chunk of change.
