Digital ByDeluxe for next week:

Rampage: 1:41 w/out credits. Attachments unknown (I'll assume The Meg and one other WB film (Ocean's/Beasts) will be them)

Truth or Dare: 1:37. Attachments are The First Purge and Breaking In.

Where is my Halloween trailer with TOD?!

The first film that I want to talk about is You Were Never Really Here by Lynne Ramsay. The film received great reviews when it was premiered at last year's Cannes film festival, and Amazon Studios (The Big Sick) is handling distribution. The company has numerous advertisements stating that the film will receive an expansion on April 20th, and for potentially good reason; the film could appeal to the hardcore action audience, as it seems to me like a film where a John Wick type of character has his gun replaced with a hammer and has his story told with maturity rather than a campy tone. I'm optimistic about this film's potential, especially with Amazon Studios behind the wheel.

Lol, are you serious?! Have you seen the movie at all? It's not an action movie, it's pure art-house movie, GA will absolutely hate it.

I'm seeing many people saying $50m ow for AQP. Is there any reason for it being this ""frontloaded""? Was there a holiday or anything on thursday...? Horror movies aren't so frontloaded anymore.

If there was no holiday, $70m is a possibility.

‘A Quiet Place’ Getting Louder With $40M+ Opening, ‘Blockers’ $18M-$20M

Midday update: Paramount’s A Quiet Place is blowing up with industry estimates figuring $16M-plus today and a $40M-plus opening weekend. There’s a chance the John Krasinski movie may even hit $50M, but currently it’s still early. Note, this is bigger than Jordan Peele’s Get Out which made $10.8M on day 1 and an opening of $33.3M. Even if this pic sinks back down into the $30M range, it’s a long-awaited win for Paramount which has been hit-starved following the Brad Grey-Rob Moore era.

Paramount’s A Quiet Place is blowing up with industry estimates figuring $16M-plus today and a $40M-plus opening weekend. There’s a chance the John Krasinski movie may even hit $50M, but currently it’s still early.

ComScore/Screen Engine PostTrak exit polls show audiences giving the Krasinski-Emily Blunt combo 4 1/2 out of 5 stars with an 84% overall positive and females under 25 hugging A Quiet Place the most at 90%. Definite recommend is a massive 63%. All great signs that sync well with its 96% Rotten Tomatoes Score.

Warner Bros. is reporting that Ready Player One has made $300M around the world with $143M of that coming from China, and making the Steven Spielberg movie the biggest yet for the studio in the Middle Kingdom. Close to 60% of the pic’s global ticket sales are being driven by 3D with $47.2M made in ReadD locations.  Industry estimates have the feature adaptation of the Ernest Cline novel in second place with $9M in its second Friday and a $23M weekend, -45% for a 12 day run of $94.9M.

Universal’s Blockers is coming in third with a $7M-$9M Friday and an $18M-$20M start per industry estimates.

Blockers going to hit the high end of that range IMO. 9 Friday, 22.5 weekend.

Quiet Place is hitting 50 or more. Deadline is notorious for trying to keep the Friday numbers as much in line with their ''tracking'' as possible.

Either the friday or the multiplier is wonky.

9 + 12 (+33%) + 8 (-33%) = 29

GIJ2 had 6.4 friday and 20.8 weekend. that multiplier also gives RPO 29.25 weekend, so it's likely that are over-estimating friday.

Even if the friday comes down to 7, it's looking at a solid 23-24 (42-45% drop) 2nd weekend imo.

It's still early for A Quiet Place and Blockers because they're pretty younger skewing, but with that 20M Friday, 60M is within reach :ohmygod:

Decent starts for Chappaquiddick and Miracle Season. Anyone know the budgets for them?
