Feels really weird to finally be 17.  I mean I don’t feel older at all but it’s cool.

Happy birthday! Now you can see R rated movies by yourself!

Huge weekend ahead. Should come close to TFA but not sure it will top it. Already seeing tons of spoilers on Twitter but I don't think that's going to stop people and the Flixster score is highly encouraging. Definitely will be front loaded but should get a ton of repeat business.

Also think 4 is going to be gigantic box office wise. Don't see it dropping like I think 9 is going to from TLJ.

Maybe an Avengers 3 + 4 > TLJ + TFA Worldwide club would be interesting?

Ah yeah. Poor americans, you should get that law changed

No, we really shouldn't. A younger drinking age leads to more of what you call "drink driving" accidents and more deaths on the road. Not that some kids don't already drink and drive, but we make them work harder to do it.

I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!

You’re barely legal to drive. And still far off from drinking age. How cute.

But hey, happy birthday! I hope you’ll have a good one today.

hmm...  doubt this will have legs.

The man who owns our local comic book store messaged me like five minutes after the movie and said the thought it was gonna go off a cliff next weekend. (Basically, the ending). I think it will be interesting to see how this plays out this week.

Look... I’m on 4 hours of sleep and I give infinity war 8.5/10... I’ve watched these forums for years and it’s a good time but I gotta step out for this one

What films did the dark knight and Nolan’s films influence? Lmao

Ryan Coogler literally said he was inspired by The dark knight dynamic of Batman and the joker when it came to tchalla and killmonger. And he said his killmonger was inspired by the joker

The dark knight opened the door for comic films being taken as legit films- the oscars suffered such a backlash from not nominating it in 2009 oscars that they changed the best picture format- if Black Panther gets nominated you will see this brought up again by multiple media outlets - you can thank the dark knight for that consideration

Batman Begins (or casino royale) is the modern blueprint for a successful reboot and an original hero movie- you can ask Jon favreau Who said he was influenced by Batman begins

The dark knight has actually been put on Best film lists- not like hyperbole Internet dork lists, like actually critic lists

Heath ledger dying helped, but don’t act like the movie wouldn’t have been a 400+ million dollar hit at the time - ledgers joker was gaining Oscar buzz pre death, there was massive hype building due to Batman begins and it’s goodwill.

Not just comic book villains but every single VILLAIN PERIOD has been put on the joker bar since the movie came out- he’s ascended to Vader, Hannibal level classic villain status.

The dark knight has become one of the most quotable movies of all time - “why so serious” “you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” “he’s not the hero we deserve” - all quoted everywhere

A piece of music from the dark knight soundtrack is more recognizable then most if not all of MCU’s entire score catalog.

When TDKR came out it was one of the most hyped movies ever-even with avengers blowing up. It was tracking for a 180+ million opening before the theater massacre happened and even Box office mojo had it at a 214 million dollar opening pre shooting

This is all off the top of my head

MCU has changed things, forever(see what I see there?).  MCU changed the entire landscape when it comes to cohesive on screen universe building - it’s incredible and studios are trying to copy it no doubt. It’s consistency is almost unparalleled and no franchise is bigger worldwide right now in terms of the sheer volume of films and result the mcu has evolved into- But don’t go crappin on the Dark knight trilogy acting like it didn’t change the game too. Its probably regarded as one of the best trilogies of all time (Real talk). It’s just fake news mang. Other films influenced - Skyfall (As previously mentioned)

- other movies just by simple googling (Id use a better source but just didn’t feel like searching haha http://www.tasteofcinema.com/2017/5-great-films-influenced-by-the-dark-knight-that-arent-superhero-movies/

Wall of text with mostly personal opinions, whatever, at least you got it out of your chest. What piece of music from tdk, I remember nothing from its soundtrack and actually own the Blu-ray . So tdkr was hyped, the avengers obliterated it ,not only in the u.s (so it can have the massacre excuse) but everywhere , so it was more liked. As for the joker leadger’s death helped propel it to mythical status, doesn’t mean that the actual movie was influential. Hell, marvel changed the rules of the game and the “grounded to reality” shit that tdk was enforcing to superhero films was demolished because of marvel’s success.

Oh it influenced skyfall, well marvel films changed the entire movie industry, brought it upside down, whether some of you like it ir not. Funny thing, it was the avengers (which came at the same time with tdkr) that changed the industry and freed superhero films from their “grounded to reality” chains that tdk had plagued them with. After the avengers it was over for tdk’s influence on the industry, the game had changed forever.

I am not crapping on tdk trilogy , though Batman begins never got the sequel it deserved in my opinion, I am just saying that they aren’t influential AT ALL, tdk was for a few years and its influence withered way , died when the MCU rose to unprecedented levels of success and TRUE INFLUENCE with ENTIRE STUDIOS , whether its universal (dark universe), Warner (dccu, the monsters shared universe , Godzilla, king kong e.t.c) , trying and mostly failing to mimic that success.

I would bet on Avengers winning that club. This seems far less divisive than TLJ was and there's a lot more reasons for audiences to come back to the conclusion.

But if IW alone tops TFA or even comes close, that's a giant accomplishment by itself.

I wondered that too but looking at audience reception so far on both Twitter and Flixster over the past few hours, reception seems to be a lot more positive than negative. And I can see audiences coming back just to take it all in again and look out for clues on where it could go.

Yeah I can see Avengers 3 and 4 averaging 1.6 billion at the very least.

Since 2012, Every Record Opener has sort of followed the Avengers model.

Which is around 60 million Friday Day, 69 Million Saturday and around 60 million Sunday.

It Will be interesting to see if IW can break that model and set its own this weekend.

To break the record it’ll have to really outperform that model to make up for previews being lower than TFA

So you can drive a car at 15, enlist in the army at 17, own an assault rifle at 18 but cant drink until you hit 21? Yeah your laws are dumb.

"Give them guns but dont give them alcohol, thats irresponsible" 😂

Your laws definitely need a re-think
