The most anticipated Marvel film ever, and still nearly $20 below TFA's previews. TFA truly was a monster of epic proportions. I thought Infinity Wars would be the first film to have a real shot at getting close to those preview numbers. If Infinity War can't, it's hard to see another film getting near that $57m number.

Time and inflation come for us all. TFA will fall someday. It may not be this weekend, though.

FUCKING NUTS

SLOP2 is one I think will see a decrease OW wise, New Mutants I don’t have much hope for, the delays aren’t a good thing.

I think if WB markets Shazam right, it could be be a sleeper hit, the Big with Superheroes hook is very appealing

Fuck forgot that one

65/170 or something I don't really know. Second one ended up 150M lower than I thought it would do

Around 30mm people watched last night. 4mm people went to Avengers.

Where'd you get your 30 million figure from? THR says that 3.9 million people watched it on Fox. I know it got broadcast on numerous stations though.

And last year the figure was at 10 million overall.

ROTS jumped over 25% from AOTC. SW9 needs roughly a 16% increase over TLJ to make that. $100M jump.

How Darth Vader came to be vs Rose and Fin Love Story and Ren going full Emo.

Discussion over...

If TLK opens that high, I would say $800 million is hard to miss. It shouldn't have a worse multiplier than BatB, especially since it appears to be more 4-quadrant in appeal (BatB skewed more female).

One question - for those who found the movie (A:IW) awesome but exhausting...

As a fan, you'll definitely put yourself through it again...but would you put family and friends through it?  Would you put kids through it?  If so, how young?  Would you put somewhere supers clueless through it?

I think when folks are talking about legs, it's not just the repeat viewers (although they do matter)...it's the "take it or leave it" group, the "gotta now take my kids/parents/best friends" group, etc that really help solidify if this is going somewhere big for legs...
