AVENGERS ENDGAME | 1939.4 M overseas ● 2797.8 M worldwide

Recommended Posts

Still YUGE numbers. Charlie predicted 23m and actuals came to 21.7m. So that is within margin of error. China has slowed down and with Pikachu taking away chunk of screens its drop will be big but last weekend was partial(saturday was like sunday, sunday behaved like a weekday). So that should help.

New Thai King 3-days coronation. I guess all entertainment outlets were closed as a respect to the occasion.

Similar to Vietnam friday and saturday last week, all entertainments were canceled

It seems that among the mature markets (Euro, Japan,....), Endgame have a chance to pass Avatar (maybe) only in South Korea (which is the less mature among the matures). In the same time, the MCU's last movie is destroying Avatar in almost all the new markets (China & other asian countries, Brazil, Mexico,....).

But, I Think.... What would happen if Avatar started today in these new markets?

@NCsoft joked about Endgame beating Avatar $2.78 Billion by 2.78%. As it happens, that's my projected gross at this moment.

I feel conflicted, I want the margin to be exactly that percentage number to show off my prediction skills, but as a die-hard Avatar fan, I want that margin to be as small as possible :lol:

If Avatar started today in those mature markets, would it had the same results?

No, nothing close. In fact, Monday gross is similar to Sat-Sun because of the coronation (holiday). Tuesday is normal  working day. So, I don’t know where the error occur

Additionally End Game reached 1,000m THB nationwide yesterday ($31.4m), although this number will not be reported in international box office

Why this number will not be reported? It's $31.4M ?

It's impossible to do comparisons because of exchange rate changes.

Avatar would make much less in some markets today then it did back then even when selling the exact same amount of tickets.

Also, someone had pointed out in the Brazil thread, with 2009 exchange rates, Endgame would be over 200 million total in Brazil.

It's just not going to be the case that we can ever know what Avatar would have made had it been released this year. China would have been more, a lot of countries would have been less due to exchange rate changes on the back of a strong US dollar.

The only thing we can really do is wait for Avatar 2 and see how that performs.

And that's just about the exchange rate, not yet mention about the important factor of "3D innovation" back then which played main part in those long legs 7-8 months and OS income, not the advantage of nowadays competition movie market.
