INCREDIBLES 2 Weekend |🏆| ACTUALS: 182.7M OW | O8 19M, Tag 14.9M, Solo 10M, DP2 8.7M, IW 5.4M

Next year I wouldn't be surprised to see TLK hit $800m Domestic and $2.2b WW.

I have a feeling that Avengers part 4 isn't going to hit the heights some seem to think though. A $235m OW, $600m Domestic and $1.7b WW haul seems like a fair bet at this point in time.

It was weird to see him post earlier, haven't seen him post in years. all he ever talked about was how X film was sexist/racist etc though.

I guess it’s a U.S thing. Because a cartoon film almost 25 years ago was mega successful a new one live action will be the event of the century. Ironjimbo is actually way more logical than most people here, at least avatar was the event movie of forever and avatar 2 has a chance of repeating that .

Whatever, as always time will tell and the truth will be the biggest troll for this forum once again....

It's not just a US thing. TLK was enormous worldwide. @peludo has talked about how huge it was in Europe a few times before, and in my experience he generally knows his stuff.

Shrek 2 says hi. And before anyone plays the "way lower OW" card, not really. Adjusts to 159m with no 3d or PLF.

The openning a wednesday card is a really strong one too, 30% of it's box office was made sunday night. It is hard to evaluate legs by using OW of movie that didn't open a friday.

Amazing OW for I2. So deserving. I love being witness to history. :-)

Unfortunately this means we’ll now see only two Star Wars movies in the top 10 as Rogue One (#10 at $532m) is sure to get surpassed by I2

It made almost 900M WW. In 1994. It’s not only a US thing. Come on now lol.

It’s not like we don’t have comparisons. We already see how TFA and JW soared to incredible BO numbers with nostalgia factor (and to a lesser extent, Finding Dory and Toy Story 3 also)

TLK is by far the most beloved animated movie of all time and up there for the most beloved movie of all time. That’s non negotiable every metric says that and the Broadway shows success proves it. That movie’s trailer will break the internet

Among the heavy internet producer of content it could be.

The pool about your favorite movie of all time among american adults look usually like those title:

Would not surprise me if it would show up in 2034 or so, I also think that there is beloved movie in the sense a lot of people love it have them in a a top 50 kind of way even if not that many have it has number 1 (say Casablanca is that type of movie everybody love even if it can get out of the top 10 of most #1 favorite movie).

No it is not "a US thing". TLK released 20+ years ago when international box office was nowhere near the size of today. TLK made $450M in its original run. 450M OS was incredibly rare, it did extremely well. 300/450 split was very rare. If you look at all movies throughout the 90s, just a quick look of BOM shows how big TLK was overseas.

some comparable films....

Titanic - 1242M

Jurassic Park - 550M

Independence Day - 511M

Phantom Menace - 493M

The Lion King - 451M

Jurassic Park 2 - 390M

Sixth Sense - 380M

Armageddon - 352M

Men in Black - 339M

T2 - 315M

as far as I can tell, TLK was the 5th biggest film OS of that decade. It's BIG big.

also, Disney movies from the 90s:

Aladdin - 287M

Beauty and the Beast - 206M

Pocahontas - 204M

Mulan - 184M

also just a thought. If TLK's domestic gross adjusts from 312M to 683M - well if overseas inflation rose at the same rate (which it hasn't, it's risen more) then Lion King grossed equivalent of $1 billion overseas.

You do know the TLK was the biggest animated movie overseas too at the time right. Like 500 million OS in 1994 is really high right. Like it towered above TBB which just did. 1.3 billion in its remake

With the success of Incredibles 2, is it possible Pixar could give us a proper sequel to Monsters Inc that reunites Sully with a teen/adult Boo.  It's OUTSTANDLY shocking they didn't go that route with it's follow-up.

Who wants that? Pick up immediately after MI ending or bust.
