Yeh the original poster mentioned the three flops though. That’s why I replied, commenting that 3 misses in a row means it’s probably time to stop.

I think Lone Survivor was before them?

Yes my bad

20.1 would be a good 56% drop for Meg for 82.7 cume. 2.5x this weekend more gives 133. Should at least do 125. China is looking at 140-150 if not more.

125 dom + 145 Ch = 270

450+ ww on cards?

We are definitely  at the summer doldrums. Very good for Crazy Rich Asians should hold up well soon.

The Meg was beat down by Mile 22 and Alpha taking over IMAX.

Mile 22 seems to be ok considering it’s budget. But may be a more modest profit, yeah it didn’t make a franchise but if the film has bad shaky cam like the reviews say, then no one wants it.

Alpha looled dead to me from the start it looked dull. So legs will need to help, but it may not save it’s budget.

Even though THR says 21 with that Friday I would think $23 million weekend would be closer for crazy rich asians

It's already sold out the show I'm seeing in a few hours in one of the biggest auditoriums aside from a few seats in the first two rows. Likely gonna play very well to the older matinee crowd.

It's nice to see Crazy Rich Asians breaking out and overperforming to such a high degree. There shouldn't be much of a race for the top spot, but I imagine Warner Bros has to be happy with having two films over $20 million in the latter half of August.

Mile 22 and Alpha are both doing okay relative to muted expectations. I guess the blatant shift in marketing approach helped Alpha after all.
