Cans one. Explain how Free Guy is considered a big success but Suicide Squad a failure?

I mean it’s still too early cause we have to see more numbers but to begin with their budgets…Suicide Squad has almost double the budget as this which means this won’t have to make as much to earn back the budget.

Plus Suicide Squad is backed by the DC brand and this is an original film.

Free Guy has an astronomically lower budget (I'm going with $100M for simplicity, vs $185M for TSS), far better word of mouth among general audiences and a 45-day theatrical exclusivity (while TSS is available for free online from day one) which should be enough to help it have the rest of August all to itself. A Cruella-like multiplier brings it past the century mark, which would be a decent feat in this day and age.

Plus the last Suicide Squad film opened to a 130m+ OW.

There really is no reason to compare the two outside of squinting at day and date considerations.

A 185M DC movie which missed OW expectations hard, where the reception doesn’t quite match pre-release buzz and it will total below the previous movie’s OD? Vs a ~100M movie which is hitting OW expectations with a good chance to leg past 100M?

Free Guy absolutely cost about as much with how hard they went with the marketing.

Man that CGI mocap for the ad with Korg didn't come free. It was better than the CGI in the actual movie. They pushed this very, very, very hard.

TSS marketing only costs $ 100M, which is pretty much the same FG entire budget.

There's no comparisson here
