Critics reviews make no sense. The movie is clearly better than The Crimes of Grindelwald.

But thanks to all controversies, they want to kill this franchise. You can almost feel how they are rooting for its failure in their articles. Too much bad press around it.

If WB announces fourth movie they will loose it.

The fact you can read an article on The Guardian about the fact Rowling opinions about trans people can make the difference of millions of dollars for a movie just show how dumb is the criticism of movies in the anglophone world nowadays.

I guess this reflects on how dumb are american movies right now.

People just didn't like that much the first movie with no kids in a magic school and no orphan kid with a scar. That's all lol.

with how this film ended it seems like they can honestly end it here and it wouldn't be that big a deal lol. No real cliffhangers here. And with how incredibly eh these films have been I wouldn't be super upset if this is it. I like the characters but someone else needs to write these movies

But she's lucky out of the bubble 95% of the population of the world doesn't know about what she thinks about sex and genders and she's even more lucky 97% of people in the real world agrees with her "extreme positions" LOL

How can it be Rowling haters when it's verified audience members

sounds like a lot of cope

I think Rowling needs to take a backseat and take a role more akin to the Broccolis on Bons where she has final say but creatives are allowed to pitch ideas for the Wizarding World.

Agreed, it’d become clear screenwriting isn’t her strong suit.

Once it hits $400m.

If you think they will move on with a 4th with 400M WW you're out of your mind.

This thing needs to make at least 500M.

This franchise has been free falling like crazy. 200M each movie.

You think they move on with a movie that costs 200M making 400M? With a franchise just dying with every entry. There's just no point.

This is not the MCU.

I mean, they did with all MonsterVerse movies. Even one last movie to finish everything can be done.

Legendary greenlights the Monsterverse movies, not WB. Most of the money in those is Legendary footing the bill as well. Less risk makes it easy for WB to greenlight the distribution for them.

Let's not forget that with all the money that is made on the HP license with all the derivative products that are #1, money they will never lose. Much more than any MonsterVerse.

This is true, the question is whether they can make the same money without the FB series continuing and instead pivoting to a different series within the Potter canon.

Is it the Rowling haters or the Depp fanboys? I  have seen both explanations (ie,excuses) made here.

One of the things I dislike about hard core fans is they just can't accept people's taste differ.

"HOW DARE YOU NOT LIKE SOMETHING I LIKE" is often their battlecry.

I'm not really sure FB is doing much for those tangential products for the HP franchise. I still think it's time to bring in new people, change directions and leave FB behind. The brand still has recognition and enough nostalgia that a fresh product can go big, it's not worth dragging FB through a 4th film (let alone a 5th, honestly) film imho, CoG and controversy have just damaged this one too much.

Lay low a few years, make people want it again, then come back with a better thought out, more exciting project for the WW.

They can't not give the final duel on the big screen, I would take it very badly. ^^

Uh, studios exist to make money for the stockholders, not to make individuals happy.

I could bear a grudge against Warners for abadoning the Aubery/Maturin franchise after "Master and Commander" did not do well at the box office, but I understood they would not spend money on a questionable project at the box office just to please me.

Whatever they intend to do with the Wizarding World next, they’ll need Rowling’s approval, which could potentially be a problem. All I know is that it’s time to let this particular series of movies die.

And they should give the whole franchise a couple of years rest, but I know that will not happen.

The temptation to try to get the Potter Cash Cow giving milk again will be too strong.
