Watched the trailer, and man does it look just as unnecessary as it sounded. Can't believe how shoddy the CGI overall looks too, given SWATH was rather impressive in that aspect. And speaking of SWATH, that movie did at least manage to have kick ass trailers. Something it doesn't look like this will be replicating.

Trailer was okay, better than Gods of Egypt. My uncle who works in CGI worked on this film (along with Star Trek for 2016). I asked him about the trailer and he said "I haven't seen a whole lot of the movie, so I can't say whether its good or not, but in terms of the stuff I do, you haven't seen anything yet." So there's a bit of hope I have for this.

They have almost 5 more months to work on CGI and will probably be working on until the day before they have to send it to theaters.  This is to be expected for a movie filmed and released in a one year period.

I do love how every teaser and trailer (for any movie) gets a bunch of CG/VFX criticism.

It seems my hopes of seeing Emily Blunt wielding an oversized Falchion +4 cold damage in this were mispleaced... oh well. I'll try to outlive the sorrow!

And overlooks everything else.

The real problem with the film it looks like it has very litte to do with the original.and it looks like a mismash of every fantasy movie that has come out in the last few years,with a little Frozen thrown in.

Well, there marketing team did not do a great job with that trailer.

And every studios make films because they think they have potential. Sometimes the films do,sometime they don;t,

Just a question DAJK, is your Uncle a freelancer in the VFX industry or is he an employee of a big VFX company like MPC or Double Negative or other ?

If Moana is a huge smash and Winter's War makes a substantial amount of money, the third Huntsman will feature the Evil Queen's illegitimate half-Polynesian sister, who wants to take over the family business.

That depends on if this movie is successful enough critically and in the box office.

For those saying this sequel is unnecessary, unwarranted or are just generally confused by Universal giving it a greenlight are forgetting the studio's much publicized strategy of taking films and nurturing them into a franchise without having to make expensive IP purchases.  They don't shy away from making sequels to modest successes and they believe (rightly so) that if you take what worked, throw away what didn't, and focus on making a better movie, there is huge potential.  Look at The Purge, Pitch Perfect, Fast & Furious, and Neighbors.  I respect that they don't immediately give up on modest successes.  Also, how awesome that we have three amazing female actors headlining a movie like this?

I think The Fucking Huntsman is the porn parody version. They've really gotten lazy with their naming conventions in recent years.

Works for a company in Vancouver, but he has changed companies a few times over the past few years. Most of the times he works on TV shows but occasionally they get sent a movie to do some scenes for from time to time. It's pretty cool cause every time I talk to him he says "guess what me and the guys are doin'?"
