Everything he’s said in the last week sounds like he’s trying to get himself fired by Disney as soon as possible.

Self-sabotage.  It's unconscious or even conscious behavior indicating he wants out.  It's kind of interesting.

Spoiler

Why are they surprised by this?  Feige is clearly Bonding these things, and he's already made clear that THOR has many more possible adventures...and it's pretty clear that Hemsworth has already signed for more options, too.  Weird.

Even all the interviews where he directly contradicts Kathleen Kennedy about his SW movies, which tbh makes her look bad… idk if this is a cry for help or what but my dude you’re rich now you don’t have to do this lol

Love and Thunder?

Everybody knows you never go full Waititi.

You went full Waititi, man. Never go full Waititi.

Weird cause the most Waititi film, Boy, which is his only original screenplay with no collaborators, is not even really a comedy..

The idea of directors that are these shiny beings that must do whatever they want is ridiculous.

Well... I guess there's a reason most "auteur" movies don't have huge budgets. Less responsibility then.

After Free Guy, I’ve been floating a theory that Taika is a troll and all of his antics are a science experiment to see how much Hollywood can handle

Is this gonna be the discourse cycle now? When a trailer drops people demand Marvel make the VFX companies unionize, reviews drop and everyone talks about Scorsese, and the movie opens and everyone talks about how anything under a billion is a letdown? Christ the wet blanket factory is working overtime.

Discourse cycle:

when a trailer drops some people chatter about vfx unionization, most say that it looks cool

reviews drop, some people dredge up Scorsese most talk about the implication of the numbers on PS/BO

movie opens and people react positively if it’s received well and overperforms or negatively if it’s received poorly and underperforms

LOL how soon we forget that when a beloved MCU film comes out, the discourse is usually about whether the Academy should nominate it for Best Picture to "stay relevant". Not that that's also not an annoying circlejerk on film twitter though.
