They are derivative, without original ideas, a recognizable style, writing. They are a bland copy of the originals aesthetics with no impact in the industry or to others filmmakers. I mean even bad blockbuster movies like transformers have been influential or roland emmerich films. These remakes are just a one shot experience for most of the people. But that doesn't make them irrelevant. Being soulless copies yet still making billions would rather reinforce the idea that right now the power of the brand transcends everything else, same goes with Marvel where the worst case scenario in the last seven years has been $519m WW. That's very relevant. And IMO it's a bold claim to say that a group of films that are currently making billions will leave no impact on the rest of the industry going forward — I don't think they're going to influence other filmmakers either, but the film industry is a business first. Say what you want about Alice in Wonderland but it making a billion dollars is how we got here in the first place.
Rebeccas
Money impacts the industry whether you think there's artistic value or not. Disney making billions of dollars doing what they're doing is why every studio wanted their own cinematic universe. Most of them failed but that's a huge number of movies impacted by essentially one giant hit of a movie.

Really thought it would make 171 still absolutely incredible. $171M might be dead, but $170.4M is still alive. SteveJaros
Yeah $5 Tuesday, but still ..... $30m for TLK is a stupendous number.
