Jonwo
NWH and NTTD show that people still like going out to see movies in the cinema and indeed going out in general although TBH I never really thought people would prefer staying at home all the time, the novelty wears off very quickly!
Heretic
Nice little bump with actuals, up from £31.3m to £31.9m. Not sure on the dollar conversion that will be reported, but based on today’s rate, around $42m.
Heretic
Hearing a lot about the country going to ‘step 2’ from December 27th. If it happens, likely only outdoor leisure allowed, and indoor entertainment closed. So, essentially, a death blow for all hospitality/entertainment venues, including cinemas. Fuck this government honestly. 3

Heretic
Honestly I am fuming and I think a lot of the people in this country are. More so due to the fact every single day a new picture surfaces showing the ‘leaders’ in this country having some kind of party and pretending it’s a work meeting. All whilst the rest of the country was under strict lockdown rules.

If cinema is closed in 2 weeks, after reopening, do you think it can affect the potential gross of the movie at that time? People will still go to see it? If this goes ahead and cinemas close, then NWH will likely be around the £50m mark when restrictions come into play. And when cinemas reopen, it won’t gross anywhere close to what it would have had there been no restrictions during the holiday period. Can’t really quantify how much more it would make at this point as too much is uncertain. Let’s see what happens first. Danhjpn
The number of new death still remains low despite the rise in number of new cases.

The least restrictive would be asking the public to limit social mixing, without legal enforcement. This would bring England into line with measures in place in Scotland, where people have been advised to reduce their socialising and limit gatherings to three households. A step up from this would be mandatory restrictions on household mixing, the return of social distancing, and forcing pubs and restaurants to close at 8pm. The third option is a return to full lockdown, or something like it, with a two-week “circuit breaker” rumoured to be on the cards. Boris Johnson said on Friday he was not “closing things down”, but increasing pressures on the NHS may prompt a rethink. hopefully, the least restrictive decision will be made, we will see. Krissykins
Yeh I’m really hoping for the best. I need to see Scream on January 14th. I don’t see why cinemas need to go all the way to closed before trying social distancing again first and then covid passports after that. juni78ukr
Didnt you realize that words encourage, recommend, advise, ask, suggest are a recipe for disaster? No enforcement too many people will simply ignore all the rules. People are smart and will make their own decisions. Heard that rubbish too many times in last two years. Closing pubs and restaurants early would be absolutely pointless. Zero effect, Omicron is spreading too fast. No time for trying half measures and those or "social distancing" are not even half measures.
