4x 95-100mn FSS shall give, shall take it where I said.

why would it be at 310M by Sunday? it only has France & Germany left to open in. is it holding that good in Japan & S.Korea?

It's not that unlikely. It's over 220 before the weekend. Assuming a 45% drop on average for last weekend's markets, plsu France and Germany... Italy has been holding amazingly, and could very well have less than a 20% drop, Spain might be looking at under 50% drop, the UK has had seemingly fantastic dailies judging by occupancy levels at cinemas throughout, so again could have a drop around 45%... We'll see what Mexico, Brazil, etc. does, but a drop of less than 50% internationally, before adding France and Germany isn't preposterous, looking at its sustained level so far. It could collapse over the weekend, sure, but I think there's at least a 50-50 shot we're looking at 500 million by Sunday evening.

Joker has become required viewing but 1b seems a stretch too far.

I shan't be crying if it makes it though, it certainly deserves it IMO.

yeah, I'm not getting my hopes so high. It's an R rated movie after all and they tend to exhaust their audience faster than PG and PG-13. Even in countries that have different rating system. But hey, if it becomes the first, I'll be the happiest camper.

I'm not getting my hopes high either, but it would be nice if it ended up being the first Rated R billion, because there are way too many billion movies now that it's losing value, it needs something new there 😛

My first guess when the film was announced was 700 million. I just knew the character's popularity would make it a hit. I think 700 million is practically locked now.

Would be pretty awesome if it at least tops Deadpool 1/2

If it had a Chinese release like Logan had, I think the billion would happen. Although it's always hard to say how they will take any given film.

It's already 222 by Thursday, in weekend it can get

UK $ 8 million, Italy$ 4.5 million

Russia $ 5 million, Spain $ 2.8 million

France $ 10 million, Germany $ 8 million

Brazil $ 4 million, Mexico $ 6 million

Australia $ 3.8 million, SK $ 5.2 million

Japan $ 4 million

This 11 big market alone already 60+ million

In India it's hold really well, in Indonesia I can confirm it will get massive hold like 50% this WE( unprecedented for SH).

Not so hasty there:)...Monday day threads had some folks saying legs were definitely looking likely (glancing at myself right now:)...we're 3 days later, and it seems likelier and likelier...

Although, maybe it's not fair, b/c I based my thoughts on my non-movie-going spouse dying to see it, and bugging me almost every day this week...if he's on board, legs are on board (at least as good as a non-summer/Xmas super:)...

I meant before release.

I can see it become the highest grossing R-rated movie WW but highest grossing DOM and 1 billion seems impossible to me. I think Charlie is just a bit excited because we finally have a blockbuster that's performing extremely well in quite some time.

Think he's setting us up for a fall. Like a certain super villain would... Pull the rug from under us with a 40 million weekend.

Totally. 1st weekend was 150mn right? India is gonna do 3x so rest gonna be 3.5-4x range easily.

3.5x gives 525mn, there are few left to release, say another 75mn, rounding off to 600.

I don’t think a 3.5-4x multiplier is realistic never mind “easy” for any film internationally.

Especially since that opening weekend included Wednesday and Thursday grosses from a bunch of markets.

Joker is biggest property of DC IMO. Bigger than Batman in many parts of world.

Somewhere, WB execs are sitting around, talking about re-shooting the JL post-credits scene, with Joaquin Phoenix in a jacuzzi, along with Bryan Cranston's Lex Luthor. Put it as a stinger with Birds of Prey.

No they’re not.

would love a Lex solo with someone like Cranston

Quote

“To WB, this has the potential of being a modern-day Citizen Kane. You see Luthor grow up from being an awkward intellectual kid to corrupt wealthy businessman to president of the United States. Slap on an R rating and leave the comic books behind but perhaps put a twist on the myth such as making Lois Lane his First Lady, but also the reporter who brings him down.”
