Yup A- is the first real surprise Frozen has thrown in my view.... huh everyone I know in real life that has seen it is raving about it. 

But again, its a sequel to a smash culture hit not just a big box office hit so it couldnt ever live up. Never expected an A+ but thought an A was pretty given. 

 

400m original films leave a massive wall to climb with part 2....

A- statistically means meh legs for family films. Gotta remember this is easy cinemascore territory and different from adult fare where an A- is ok. 

Its not the worst but if adults are giving it enough bad grades to sink kiddo high ones those that pay may not pay going forward.

 

I mean it could have been a B 😂 which is almost unheard of for animations but still... not freaking out just surprised, genuinely.

Average is in the eye of the beholder. I never expected the kind of legs for the 500m crowd (course that crowd wanted / needed a larger opening), but if WOM isnt strong then instead of maneuvering a busy holiday stretch like Frozen 1 did - or even Moana, it could lose a decent chunk of ground. 

Wont have a good idea until after Thanksgiving regardless but it definitely puts a crimp in anyone hoping for a wom smash. A 3x given the holiday should be what it aims for of sorts imo.

I realize this comparison is probably useless, but the last November animation from Disney to open on a Friday - Big Hero 6 on November 7, 2014 - saw a 66.9% Saturday bump from true Friday. Again, I know it was 5 years ago and much smaller numbers but there's some basis for a huge Saturday increase for this kind of film.

KO is an entertaining film but FvF is simply better. I don't think KO will match FvF's A+ CS but it should manage an A. It's a shame these two films might cannibalize each other at the box office.

I wouldn't panic too much about the Cinemascore. Posttrak from last night was par Aladdin and CM which both got As so I think this may have been a fluke or sampling issue.

That was early November, which usually has higher bumps than late November.

huge increase in ticket sales but average ticket prices(more tickets are sold at discount prices before noon) are down and I also expect % of kiddie tickets to go up as well. Still its set up for a big increase

Out of likes but the increase seems very good, it's running nearly 50% ahead of yesterday so hopefully big day incoming.
