The Marvels | November 10, 2023 | Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter

It would be funny and ironic if after all the handwringing this ended up the biggest MCU movie of the year (not that it would be overly shocking to me, the first Captain Marvel was a bigger movie than any of either the solo Guardians or Ant-Man flicks, but still).

I don´t quite get the Ms.Marvel show perspective. Not everyone that watched IW had watched The Guardians movies or Doctor Strange. MCU have always been quite good at making stuff like that easy for GA, that´s why it managed to become so big. The only time they kinda F´ed up in that regard was with WandaVision and MoM. Pretty sure they have learned from that. Those who don´t know Kamala will get to know her just like Carol is in the movie I would presume. The important thing for the trailers is to sell a movie that looks entertaining and fun.

Exactly. The trailer basically covers it: Kamala is a superhero fangirl who became a superhero. The stuff about her being a mutant or traveling back in time and stuff doesn't need to be explained here because it probably isn't very important to the movies plot. Like how Infinity War didn't need to explain Star Lord being a Celestial and stuff, just that the Guardians are a group of space mercs who have some familial connections to Thanos.

I wonder why is that? And why did they decide to make a team up movie? Brie not charismatic enough on her own? The first movie made bank

I mean Captain Marvel got an A cinema score, a lot these decisions came off Marvel riding on a high with End Game and getting pressure to produce TV shows. I think the premise is fine but I’d have had Captain America 2 then this maybe introducing at least one character in that.

My issue is probably more the branding than the concept.

It was a good move to be one of the first November releases to have a trailer out to get the conversation started. If Guardians gets a good response having this trailer ahead of it will help too. Still, this trailer basically confirmed the plot leaks which didn't sound....great.

Don't think this movie will bomb though (would be shocked if it went under $600M), but it will still see a drop. How much of a drop will depend on audience WOM and how much other films released around then hurt it like Dune, Hunger Games (which supposedly has a trailer on the way soon) and Wish.

I wish this was centered on Captain Marvel

Cause the teaser is giving me anxiety. Captain Marvel is barely in the trailer. It is more focused on other 2 , I know they are both new characters but still

People need to be aware this is follow up of Captain Marvel.  I hope things turn out right

Don't worry. Marvel sequel has to be a group sex porn.

Civil War - Team Cap or Iron Man.

Ragnarok - Hulk.

Ant Man 2nd round - with the Wasp.

Far From Home - just give you a break, maybe next time.

No Way Home - three spidey boys with Dr. Strange.

Dr. Strange - secret cameos.

Thor 4 - Jane as another Thor.

Wakanda Forever - Namor.

Ant-Man 3 - no new hero, but literally everybody has super power.

Marvel is now just too afraid to have characters without super powers in movies. You can now hardly see scenes like Cap gave his defense strategy to policemen in first Avengers. A world full of gods in later phases.

Glad to see the vibe in here is more hopeful than I was expecting after this teaser. I like the style and more vivid cinematography, but the glimpses at performances and humor were really bad to me. I love Brie Larson, but she continues to appear wooden in this role. Fun concept, though, but I don't see this doing very well at the B.O. based on this trailer.

When everyone is special no one is.
