Watched it yesterday (Thursday, Taipei), the attendance was bleak, though not that unusual for a weekday morning show here, but still~ and I don't see there's any possibility of positive WOM going into the weekend. Taiwan is a certified Marvel colony, DC ips alone wouldn’t bring audience into the theaters.

Opening was pretty bad in Taipei and Taiwan overall yesterday.

Well, Hollywood movies in general gradually lost their charm in Taiwan, unless it’s Marvel. More often we see JP anime features and local productions beating supposed Hollywood blockbusters. Compared to fellow Hollywood flicks, The Batman’s OD was worse than not just The Eternals, Venom2, and but also The King’s Man, which represents what would a typical non-bombing action comedy does in Taiwan.

I was in the theater during the blackout. Theaters sure have their own power supply. at any rate, if there's any impact, only early morning shows (9:00/10:00) suffered.

Although I'm fine with this being in a separate universe, it's sad to think what could've been. Rob's Batman in a  Justice League movie? Kravitz's Catwoman in a Gotham City Sirens movie? Bleh.

But with the film being as amazing as it is, that's enough for now for me.

And you can't build up to a big payoff with a crossover movie like IW and Endgame when you don't keep all the characters in a shared universe. We've seen how the road map works over at the MCU to do big crossover movies and get audiences interested in unknown characters like Captain Marvel and Shang-Chi. The MCU wrangled Spider-Man back into their universe because they could see the value he had as a part of their canon. WB voluntarily starting a big Batman franchise outside of their shared universe is shortsighted at best. Sure, they can open up a magic portal and cross them over someday, but even if that worked for one big movie, you're losing a lot of smaller team-ups and cameos along the way. Like you said, they now have a Catwoman developed, but she can't meet Harley Quinn or pop up in the Batgirl movie. It's not too efficient to now have to develop a DCEU Catwoman in some other movie when you could've just made use of the one you already set up.

IMO, I am ok with no DC crossovers. Maybe only on HBOMAX with Gunn involved but leave the team-ups to MCU. Let DC give money to directors like Reeves to do whatever they want. I’d keep Pattinson Batman in his own pocket of DC. Truly no personal hype in the Flash movie bringing back Keaton and Affleck.

We would’ve gotten a Batman movie that was part of a larger DC universe if Ben Affleck hadn’t dropped out. Matt Reeves was the one who wanted to make a Batman movie that wasn’t in the DCEU. It sounds like WB was so desperate for a new Batman movie that they decided to let Reeves do whatever he wanted.
