I've read all Zahlers novels and graphic novels but I think this is my favorite of them.

At least Marty has the good sense not to anger one of his major audiences for a movie..and History Buffs are a major audeince for 'Napoleon".

So will it be a Austerlitz  or a Waterloo  for Ridley at the box office?

Scott  seems to be using at least osme acutal Napoleon quotes..the "I found the crown of France in the gutter" quote is what he actually said when beind crowned emperor.

I suspect the film will climax at Austerlitz..his greatest victory. The Frozen Lake battle indicates that strongly.

I think pre judging a movie by it's length is ususally stupidd, but I admit to thinking that two and half hourse is not enough time for all the films seems to want to cover from the trailers.

Joaquin Phoenix didn't do any interviews at the premiere of Napoleon, I'm guessing he really doesn't like doing publicity for movies.

Depending on how cut down this is from his director's cut, this will either be a Kingdom of Heaven scenario (rotten) OR an entertaining albeit shallow examination of Napoleon's life (60-70%).

Yeah I'm expecting something like 50-75% RT.  I've enjoyed all of Scott's historical epics though except for Exodus(god that movie was stupid).  Yes, even Robin Hood.

Pretty much my opinion. I am hoping for a 'Kingdom of Heaven" style much longer Director's cut.
