Twin Cities Thursday Previews Report:

Totals: 9 theaters 19 23 81 2626 3.08

Comp:

1.59x Beast: $1.47 M

The Invitation (T-3):

Day: T-3 Shows New Seats Sold Seats % Sold
Totals: 9 theaters 22 20 26 3133 0.83

Comp:

0.51x Beast: $470k

Beast isn't a good comp, but it's all I have. Three Thousand Years continues to surprise me as it has more sales than I would expect, but it'll probably be pre-sales heavy, as fans of Miller will go to watch it while not appealing to the general audience. The Invitation is looking rough, think it'll be closer to $5M than to $10M

Twin Cities Thursday Previews Report:

Three Thousand Years of Longing (T-2):

Day: T-2 Shows New Seats Sold Seats % Sold
Totals: 11 theaters 23 25 106 2881 3.68

Comp:

1.37x Beast: $1.27 M

Lost a bit of ground to Beast, but it's still selling decently here (compared to my very meager expectations).

The Invitation (T-2):

Day: T-2 Shows New Seats Sold Seats % Sold
Totals: 11 theaters 27 1 27 3512 0.77

Comp:

0.35x Beast: $320k

Doing horribly in Minnesota so far.

AMC subscribers using their 3x/week movie subscriptions...Cinemark folks likely already used their 1x/month...unless you have tons of AMCs and fewer of the other 2 in your numbers...

Yeah there are a lot more AMC locations in these numbers. Not sure the exact number for AMC, but I counted 12 Cinemark and 2 Megaplex

The Invitation is splitting Cinemark XD screenings this weekend. On Friday, it has 740 and 1030 showings. But oddly, you know what has the 2 matinee showings? ELVIS!

At AMC this weekend, Dragon Ball still has IMAX on Thursday. Rogue One takes over for the weekend. Three Thousand Years has the Dolby for the weekend.

https://www.cbr.com/halloween-ends-debut-theaters-streaming-same-date/

I found this interesting, one of the first "big movies" to hit after the summer break and they're streaming same day? Really have to wonder how that affects it's box office, especially with the whole "Halloween Ends" (for now) theme going with it. A bit surprising IMO theyd do same day streaming with the build up they have been giving it.

edit: NVM  beat to it by @Krissykins ;)

Yeah Rogue One's not playing at Regal at all. IMAX at my two Regals w/ IMAX is split between Dragon Ball, a midday showing of Elvis, and a late night showing of TGM. Gives me one less thing to look at, so it's fine.

The Regal IMAX near me has the same schedule and I am quite a ways from you. The four daily showtimes are as follows:

Dragon Ball/Elvis/Dragon Ball/Top Gun

I was wanting to see Rogue One in IMAX but the nearest one is at an AMC about two hours from me.

TGM is picking up some AMC Dolby screen times this weekend. One theater gave it the two evening showings and another theater gave it the first evening showing only.

Could TGM be headed to an increase this weekend?

Elvis did play an IMAX overseas earlier this summer so I'm guessing there was a similar deal here where it would play on at least some of their screens over here at some point (either during its initial run or during awards season), hence why it's probably finally being added on what's looking to be a mostly lifeless frame.

Some AMCs getting Three Thousand Years in Dolby are having that be its sole screen with either no standard showtimes or half screens at off-peak hours. Yikes.

Other Dolbys are a combo of Dragon Ball/Top Gun/Elvis depending on the location.

I noticed something odd when running No Way Home, so I decided to take a look at showtimes for next weekend.

Full weekend

TC - 1,010

MTC1 - 193

MTC2 - 194

MTC3 - 323

Shows - 8,724

PLF - 1,799

Nothing out of the ordinary there.  But when I look at the breakdown...

Movie TC MTC1 MTC2 MTC3 Shows PLF
NWH Th 942 189 177 299 1,777 484
NWH Fr 890 186 191 300 2,391 650
NWH Sa 135 0 0 33 419 0
NWH Su 869 185 188 293 2,338 665

What's going on Saturday??

Looking at the tracking numbers, pegging The Invitation in $8-$12M range, and probably sub-$5M for 3K Years. Might not see that top movie over $10M streak broken after all

Invitation over/under Beast OW is an interesting question, as might be NWH rerelease 3-day over 3K Years OW. But that’s about as “exciting” as BO gets in these especially doggy days of summer
