Tracking walkups for my theatre.

Both Renfield and Pope's Exorcist each had only two tickets sold this morning, both for the early show.

At time of early showtime close, Renfield sold 8 tickets to the early show. Nothing sold for the late yet. I'll check in at showtime.

Pope's Exorcist is still at its original 2 tickets sold.

So basically, next to no activity. It's also an absolutely gorgeous day in southern Ontario. Not the best night to spend indoors and watch a horror movie.

GOTG Vol3 MTC2 Thursday - 49044/587674 703531.51 3733 shows

Definite boost today compared to yesterday. Still well behind Ant 3. Somewhere equivalent(couple of days ahead) data for Ant is below. Both MTC1/2 are tracking similar percentage(slightly below 3/4th) compared to Ant. Good news is the week beyond were really meh for Ant 3. Let us see how Guardians behave well into its 2nd week of presales.

GOTG Vol3 MTC2 Thursday -51802/588887 742386.24 3741 shows

2 days of run. it increased 1648 over past 24 hours. Just to repost T-21 for Ant 3 below.

The Regal Monday Mystery Movie on April 17th is Sisu.

Regal specified that it's a film not for the faint of heart. It would make no sense to play Evil Dead Rise as it wouldn't need a Mystery Movie box office boost due to name recognition and it literally comes out 4 days later which would cause a lot of cancelations for pre sale tickets.

The Covenant is 2 hours long and Beau is Afraid is 3 hours long and the Mystery Movie is no longer than 1 hour and 46 minutes.

I still don't understand using Renfield as your title. It conveys basically nothing. Whoever decided not to put Dracula in the title somewhere should be fired.

Anyone can make a Dracula film. Fen field is designed to be franchisable so needs a specific brand.

Final tally on TPE is 8 tickets sold to its late show, but, Renfield didn't sell anything to its late show.

Overall, from start of day to end of day

Renfield 2->6

Pope's exorcist 2->10

I don't have great comparisons, but, last week on Wednesday debut, Air did

9->35 over the course of the day.

I don't think Marvel can really do that much to increase sales. People know what to expect from this franchise. It's more of the same. Huge surge won't happen without something drastic happening between sequels ( a GOD forbid...a death...see Dark Knight and Fast and Furios)or if the predecessor did ok but it was discovered later at home (John Wick,), which is not the case here because this franchise did great things from the start

All in all, i think the franchise has reached its ceiling

As someone mentioned in the Gotg Vol 3 thread the audience expect fun adventures in a Gotg movie yet Marvel has been trying to sell Vol 3 as some kind of feels trip. As if some of these characters are certainly going to die by the end of the movie. And this marketing is doing a terrific job at convincing people NOT to watch the movie.

MTC1 previews

Renfield - 14411/130357 202535.29 1072 shows

Suzume - 15144/154429 248802.60 1058 shows

Presales have grown at anemic levels. Let us see how walkups go but I am not seeing more than 1m for either movie. Renfield will probably squeak ahead in ticket sales but Suzume has Imax shows and so could still gross a tad more.

Renfield previews

MTC1 - 20588/130093 287035.12 1070 shows

MTC2 - 12425/117023 146414.72 992 shows

Thinking around 800-900K range for this one.

Suzume MTC1 Previews - 17824/154219 289301.86 1057 shows

Probably  around ~800K. It could do a bit more if Canada over performs. But I am not sure how these movies do over there.

Look at the numbers, I am not even convinced studios will bother putting out previews or just club them with friday BO.

Renfield looks like $900K to me. Meh. There were few EA yday.

FRI sales were eh in Harkins, likely it miss $10M.

Suzume IDK, could be $600-700K depending on how wide release is in smaller chains.
