They're on crazy pills with the $100m number over there in the tracking thread. They've lost the plot.

Congratulations Tracking Thread!

Okay, I'll bite.

Who exactly in the Tracking thread said this was coming in AT $100m.

As a member of the so-called Tracking Team, I'd like you to name names, please.

(NOTE: @charlie Jatinder gave an off-the-cuff range of $100m to $130m, but call me a tradtionalist here, that's a far cry from saying "The tracking thread is saying $100m OW)

The ONLY reason I am mentioning this is I know all too well how so-called facts can gallop around the intrawebs and I want to stop this "Tracking Thread is Saying 100m OW" dead in its tracks.  Especially since we don't even have a whisper of a Thr number yet.

I can’t bring myself not to disappoint to see 100m opening. Not only it barely come above venom2 , the number also fails to hit 2x of NTTD, another film equally long and similar RT score.

maybe we should remake 1972 deep throat starring pattinson.

What did Batman Begins make OW adjusted?

It was a 5 day OW, so already kinda apples-to-oranges, even with some extra PLF showtimes on Tue/Wed.

While I don't see this coming in at $100M (I am personally thinking $130m); there's plenty of data out there that it COULD come in under $120M and I don't think anyone should be shocked or surprised if it does.

Keep in mind, this film is not only running with 3PM Thursday previews (ala NWH which did a 5.2x previews-to-weekend IM) BUT it also had an additional ~500 PLF shows between Tuesday and Wednesday that will drop that IM even further. I could definitely see an IM of 5.0-5.5 or so. If we extrapolate that full previews is $22M for instance, then a 5.0-5.5 previews IM would be $110-121M.....

Don't you think its more likely the IM is  between NWH and Venom 2? I'm thinking 6- 6.5 IM

No spoilers but the talks of inaccessibility are so overblown lol. It's not like Joker, it's not even disturbing or insanely darker than Dark Knight or TDKR? Yes there's a lot of plot but the action payoffs every 20-30 minutes are great beats. Strong ending.

If general audiences can't handle this, then we're doomed and attention spans are unrecoverable.

The problem with the IM is:

1) Three hour long movie

2) Geared more to adults (how much more is an open question)

3) 3pm matinees on Thr

4) Lots of PLF showtimes on Tue/Wed across the country.

In other words, which factors do you think are the most important even before we get to the buzz/WOM surrounding the movie.

And the buzz/WOM is a consideration as well, as movies with strong WOM can have stronger weekend numbers than might be anticipated.

===

All of the above being said, @PenguinXXR is absolutely right that we ***COULD*** get a lower number than some folks want for the reasons he mentions.

Where I am throwing my gauntlet down is conflating could with will.

It wasn’t me. I was the one that put in the warning to say that we’re not having a meltdown because of this movie doesn’t do well, then we’re just gonna get porn from Robert Patterson. So that’s a win.

No right now I’m dealing with trying to befriend Santa in my Marvel Characters As Toddlers Sims 4 game.

We kicked Bucky out of Wakanda, so that we can move Santa into the household. Because you want Santa in our household, so that I can go in and use a cheat to change his appearance and his name. So that what happens is for every winter fest, instead of Santa, we get Stan Lee coming to the house to give gifts.

Santa was not interested in this at all, so I’m on to Plan B. Which I said I need to invite him over to the house and I need to make friends with him.
