Mulder
It's a drama by Amazon, I don't really think they're too concerned with its box office honestly. Yes this is a box office forum but we also don't have to act like/pretend every movie must be some massive hit and if it doesn't do that it loses all value. Sometimes you can just talk about its quality as a film, not how much money it'll make as a product.
Joel M
It would be cool though if this did decent enough to convince Amazon and other streamers to try out some of their stuff in theatres first. filmlover
Can't wait for this. I doubt it makes anywhere close to what Moneyball did but hopefully is able to find a good-sized audience in theaters to show that drama isn't totally dead on the big screen after all.
Pinacolada
Yeah im excited now. Will check it out in theaters probably. Wondering what the budget for this is.... could they have gotten it to like $25m? With that cast? Realistically, I'm thinking this could make in the $30m-$40m range or so domestically, optimistically of it can hit a double digit opening. Hopefully they'll give it a big push with March Madness I still feel like they didn't quite nail it with the trailer. It's missing grit or any sort of edge I think. The trailer played in front of Creed 3 with my brother who is a big sports fan and I don't think he was very impressed. BestPicturePlutoNash
It has advance screenings on Wednesday and Saturday before opening next week. What is the tracking like?
Jonwo
It's been promoted heavily in the UK although WB is handling distribution because of their deal with MGM.
DAJK
Really hoping this is a good-sized hit (for the genre). Would show these streamers that theatrical releases for their headliner product can be a viable financial decision, which is only good news for us who love the theatrical experience. Hopefully Apple takes note and really does go all-in on theatrical distribution beyond just Killers of the Flower Moon. Hoping Napoleon and that Matthew Vaughan actioner get full-blown theatrical releases.

Paramount is distributing Killers of the Flower Moon IIRC I don't know if Napoleon has a distributor, Apple should try and get say a big studio distribute it OS given the prestige of Joaquin and Ridley Scott. Morieris
Huh, My mother wants to see this. Outright said "Will you go see this with me?" Not something I ever would have expected, but okay.

Straight drama will get another chance with "Oppenheimer" this summer and Killers Of The Flower Moon this fall. dudalb
I saw an trailer for this on ESPN Last night so they will aim for the Sports fan audience. Hope it is as good as "Moneyball".
BestPicturePlutoNash
This could be a decent WOM hit. The audience ate it up. It's a very broad comedy. It probably lacks a major setpiece but it's more crowdpleasing than Moneyball (though, not as good).
sabrecmc
Caught a preview of this on Saturday night with a pretty packed theater (though a smaller theater). Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. It was snappily written, full of sports and marketing lore, and great 80s music. Performances were good all-around. Idk, there wasn't a whole lot of "there" there, but it was really satisfying and engaging. Ultimately, it's about taking a risk that...makes a really talented sportsball player super rich and helps a giant mega-corp (though they do try to make it about more, but come on), but it was very fun the whole time. Crowd seemed into it. Lots of laughter. I really liked Jason Bateman's role the most, but Damon and Affleck were good, too.
