We're still doing this "OMG what if this streaming show hurts this movie" stuff? Okay then.

some on box office mojo forums tried to pin shrek 4's lower than expected opening on the LOST finale being on that weekend. haven't forgotten that. there was a whole thread just to discuss the LOST's impact on box office.

It did seem like a certain billion dollar movie before reviews.

Funny that the MCU Disney movies are kinda ruining the billion average.

Was really hoping for all 1B this year after the almost 2B advance by NWH.

DS2 doesn't have China, Russia and a whole slew of middle eastern markets.

We can't really compare to pre-pandemic MCU films.

Nor is 1 billion completely dead yet anyways. But either way, a 950 million finish is nothing to sneeze at!

Have they announced a sequel yet?

I will say that Uncharted has pretty much done what it was supposed to for Holland (proved hes a box office draw without Spiderman). Filming two franchises isn’t going to leave him much time to do other (more creative) things if he signs on for Spidey 4 plus Uncharted 2

They haven't. Hard to say if it's because they know a decline would happen or if it's because of the stars holding them up (Holland seems busy with other projects, Wahlberg has been dropping hints in the press recently about retirement from acting).

Back in the day, I used to think GoT final season could impact Endgame's opening weekend...

How silly I was.

A24 would definitely be wise to give another expansion to Everything Everywhere June 3 (Neon is giving Crimes of the Future a fairly wide release that weekend but that won't be making much regardless). The aforementioned light schedule (4 studio releases in all of June, while July has a grand total of 6) and the fact it's not slowing down means $65-70M isn't outside the realm of possibility at this point.

While a $2K PTA (and holding <-10%) is nothing to sneeze at in this market, it’s also not great. Top Gun is going to take up a lot of screen space, plus Burgers, Strange and the two family films likely taking precedence over for a holiday weekend

Won’t be surprised to see a decent TC reduction for this upcoming weekend (~1000-1100), and then maybe a push to re-expand in the dead weekend after Memorial Day (1500+)

Bob's Burgers seems DOA and will fade quickly, so I don't think that's going to be much of a factor beyond Memorial Day. Top Gun will take up a lot of screen space next weekend, but the market will still be empty until the second weekend of June outside of that and Strange (which is already starting to lose the overabundance of screens it had during those first two weeks now that it's dying down).

Uncharted had good legs though showing people liked it

Stranger Things is still going on? How old are those kids now? Lol. Doesn’t feel like that show is currently in the popular culture right now

Yes it is, and consistently trending since they dropped the trailer.

The last season was 3 years ago so there wasn't really anything to talk about beyond "it's taking too long", but once it drops, it will be massive again.
