Looking et sales at my local theatre, yesterday did fantastic numbers. It started the day at 320 tickets sold. Ended at 557.

 

Thursday is starting at around 450, with great business in the late shows with tomorrow being a holiday. If walk ups see a similar pattern,  And Friday has a ton more shows due to matinees, plus adding another screen. Ticket sales are already over 1200, with room for that to grow.

 

This is in Southern Ontario. Friday is a full holiday, and Monday schools are various offices closed, so people have lots of time this weekend.

Facts.   This will be a 4 Quadrant Blockbuster.   Multiple Generations.  We are in Super Mario's World now.   And Yes, a "Nintendo Cinematic Universe" is a lock.   Illumination just hit the jackpot with this.

Congratulations Bob Chapek on destroying Top 2 animation studio for Disney+ 

The Live action Moana is just cherry on the cake of how far both studios have fallen.

 

 

Illumination truly deserves this success,  they just didn't give up on their products to boost streaming service

Number 1 at the boxoffice...

Gibli,Pixar,Disney, Dreamworks, Sony Animation...all of them are far better Animation studios.

Partly depends on the budget, but there are definitely a lot of posters on here who seem to think a 3 hour movie of scientists talking in rooms has the same potential as a usual Nolan spectacle.

That's different from saying it's going to be the number one movie, though. Not many expected that. Although I think it's not a lock.

Here in Germany, Mario had a 260k admissions Opening Day. That is the biggest OD for all films in the 2020s. Bigger than NTTD or Avatar 2.

 

If that is an indication how it might play in Europe overall, this thing could be an absolute monster.

I really want to go watch Mario, but I can't see it until the 14th because of international release shuffles. We're getting Dungeons and Dragons tomorrow instead.
