WGA/SAGAFTRA Strike Discussion Thread | SAG Ratifies Contract

WGA's strike ended that way IIRC but they're not doing that this time.

Yeah. I don't think WGA were so happy about the interims in the previous strike, since they aren't doing it again.

Also, as the WGA don't allow interims this time, are these movie working with scab writers?

The immediate question, though, aside from “how many times are you going to see it?” was: How was Swift able to film and promote the documentary in the midst of the ongoing Hollywood strike by actors and writers? The production-crippling strike began when the Writers Guild of America walked out on May 2 — followed by members of SAG-AFTRA joining in on July 13 — shutting down production on nearly all movies, TV and streaming projects in the U.S.

However, SAG-AFTRA has struck an interim agreement to cover individual non-AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) productions that meet the same standards the unions are seeking in their negotiations with the studios. A source close to the Swift film confirmed to Billboard on Thursday that the Eras doc had obtained clearance under that agreement before shooting the movie. Billboard also confirmed that the Swift film is included under an assumed name on the list of approved interim agreement projects.

The list of terms on the interim agreement covers everything from scheduled breaks to payment for fittings, meal and wardrobe allowances for principal actors and background actors, per diems, rest periods and more.

The Eras Tour film was shot over the first three nights of Swift’s six-night stand at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium from Aug. 3-9.

Asked?  Answered.

(well, "sources say", but tis a logical deduction regardless)

Also:  Online sleuths try to figure out the "assumed name" on the list of interim agreement projects.

I give 'em about 12 hours or so before they crack it.  Maybe even less.

Perhaps I'm a cynical so and so but I think once these strikes are sorted, a lot of actors and some writers who were calling for Hollywood to be dismantled will be back at all major events and hanging out with the producers and CEOs.

If the writers and actors get a good deal, that will mean that the Hollywood power structure has been dismantled to some extent.

For sure. This is still a business, after all.

Just booked Imax Laser for Taylor Swift. $71 for 3 people, 1 being a kid.

But I had a promo code, get decent chunk back in amc points and had gift cards to burn so zero out of pocket. Thanks for posting that. My daughter pretends she doesn't love taylor swift but she will go nuts for it.

Taylor causing other movies released around it to flee to the other dates and ruffling the feathers of the studios who caused this strike and are now distraught they won't have the biggest theatrical release of the fall by far.

Who else could claim to have such unlimited power (sorry, Palpatine)?

I've understand people are happy for the studios on distraught.

However, wouldn't the movie about Taylor's concert exist even without the strike? So, even without the strike, Taylor movie will be the biggest theatrical release of the fall by far.
