I wish that Gillman number was real. I liked that movie a lot, real shame it bombed.

I think people expecting some 500 million grosser from MI7 are expecting to much.

if the film does 300-400 millon domestic it would be a massive hit.

What about $200-$220 million domestic?

Just saw mission Impossible and I enjoyed it but the same things that annoyed me about FX also annoyed me about mi7. It just feels like it's jumped the shark in terms of action. Ethan isn't quite as invincible as Dom but it's not too far off. I was expecting him to get into an American muscle car and catch one of the girls in mid-air. Thankfully that didn't happen.

And again just my opinion but like Indiana Jones there were a few too many action scenes that seem to go on a bit too long.

Now that my complaints are out of the way I enjoyed a lot of the camaraderie that everybody seemed to have and the action scenes were fun and the motorcycle stunt off the mountain is pretty exhilarating. I don't know what I'd rank this movie right now but without letting it sit and marinate for a while I'd probably say 7 out of 10..

don’t all action heroes have plot armor though?

Congratulations to Elemental for a 35% jump on Tuesday and for only dropping 25% from July 4th. 🥳

$2.11 million Tuesday

By the time Barbenheimer rolls around this will probably have overtake Indy and Insidious (certainly in per showings average at least) and won't end up losing as many showings in the apocalypse that those two will bring.

There is plot armor then there is Batman could take down the whole Justice League with prep time plot armor. Haven’t seen MI7, but just to point out that there is good use of plot armor and then there is so much plot armor that it gets ridiculous and takes you out of story.

Tuesday drops for last weeks openers:

Sound of Freedom -4%
Insidious -1%

Maybe MI opening earlier will lessen the blows on Thursday for all films.

Isn't the only reason we expect thursday drops because of the previews of new openers? I mean if there is no competition thursday is often a day that holds flat (some movies increase, some decrease a tiny bit). Af far as I can remember there don't seem any noteworty movie releasing this thursday so I would expect movies to follow the normal 'no new competition thursday' patern.

huh..... Indy jumped from yesterday unlike SoF and yea that's a great Elemental jump

I actually think that Indy will show signs of decent legs across the summer. The real stress test is going to be next weekend though.

Er, folks... $7 million is a very good start.

MI series does 10-12x previews IM, 3.5 legs, 30/70 domestic / foriegn split. This is opening is right in line and supressed by not only discount Tuesday but an adult audience that has no time on Tuesday or Wednesday.

That's a really good point. That at least makes it a little bit more plausible when both of them can defy gravity LOL

I mean I feel the laws of physics being broken is part of the whole charm for Fast and Furious and Mission Impossible? These are designed to be goofy action movies and have ridiculous, over-the-top shenanigans. And at least in M:I's case, they actually shoot these ridiculous stunts through as many practical effects as possible. I dunno. It's like saying Jurassic Park has too many dinosaurs or something.
