The First Omen improved a little bit and had counted today ca. 2 hours ago 452 sold tickets. 

Comps (both also counted on Friday for Friday but hours earlier): Cabrini (2.6M true Friday) had 503 sold tickets but was maybe/probably even more of a niche film. No idea living in Europe.

And Immaculate (2M OD including previews) had 436 sold tickets.

 

The preview number of The First Omen came in a bit higher than my comps (my guess was 550k with a little last minute rise and the actual number is 725k) so I lift my 2M prediction a little bit to 2.5-3M true Friday. But that's more or less guess work because especially this weekend so much depends purely on the walk-ups.

Curiously, the pace in the final week looks like a GA friendly film, but seems the awareness of and/or interest in the film didn't go very deep into smaller markets. Typically pace and market breadth are correlated (where metro-centric films are usually more presale heavy).

 

(Does make we wonder if there's a chance for good legs if WOM is able to expand the audience pool)

Box Office Pro is predicting a 20M-40M opening for The Fall Guy and a total domestic range of 75M to 125M. I know it’s not based on a well-known IP but that seems like a weak kick-off to the summer blockbuster season, especially with the positive reviews.

That write up seems like a lazy no effort made forecast. And what is with the wide range. The movie is still four weeks away and I assume the main marketing push starts next week with the Cinema Con screening. This will be a walkup friendly GA movie. Or maybe Covid and the rise of streaming has killed the chances of movies like this breaking out big. Will see

they are based on the pre sales started 2 months before. It's really hard to predict how this can open, so the prediction is like 20M if flops, 40M if makes good. Something imo you can say even without pre sales.. i mean you see this movie and you say worst scenario 20M (less than that seems very unlikely), 40M best scenario. 

The last week before the release it's when things will became clearier...and anyways this is a kind of rom com too. So even if it opens with just 40M there are chances the legs can be good like for the tatum-bullock movie or anyone but you. I don't think we should focus too much only on the first weekend.
