I understand if they didn't want to go in deeper with stuff about Cal's father (Gleeson) and the Piece of Eden etc like the version shown at KinoExpo Russia did but I honestly would have preferred that maybe?

 

The E3 featurette is by far still the best marketing piece released - no Kanye/trash rock/pop, teases the story elements and the action appropriately.

Yeah, I think I was right in believing that Fox has no clue on how to market this movie. Five months and they mustered up that music selection. I think the trailer was meant to intrigue the casual movie goers who aren't aware of the franchise, and I think it's working for the most part based on responses I'm seeing from non-fans. However, it's totally not the vibe Fassbender and Kurzel have said they are going for, as you can see in the E3 footage and even the Kanye track felt it had gravitas and more of an edge to it.

Exactly!! Movie should have been 100% in the past. It deserves to bomb.

 

And if the modern parts are more than 20% of its time, the Shay will boycott its ass!!

agree Fox's marketing so far has been very disappointing

 

 

this will likely flop. I hope at least it is a good movie and doesn't end in a cliffhanger

That would be a heck of a multiplier domestically. I'm starting to wonder if this can even beat Prince of Persia.
