Blankments
I think they will go back to being more comedy focused and not so dark with Dragon 3. Kind of like what happened with ROTJ after ESB. OH FUCK NO THIS POST ACTIVELY MAKES ME WANNA THROW UP this is the last straw Mojoguy you are getting ignored; no more likes for you Edited June 25, 2014 by Blankments

MovieMan89
If this and Dory both keep their summer 2016 release dates this is going to get absolutely gutted at the box office. If Dragon 2 couldn't do anything with everything it had going for it in a summer where it was the only animated film on the market, how on earth is this going to compete with one of the most anticipated animated films ever?
John Marston
I wonder if the plot of the mother abandoning her family but being portrayed sympathetically has anything to do with turning people off since I can see many parents finding that deplorable

FrozenUnicorn
I hope that it'll be better than the second. Not to say the second was awful by any means, but it didn't focus as much on the heart and emotion between characters so I don't feel it had as much of an impact, it just had worldbuilding going for it. I'll be happy if it brings back the emotional charm that the first had.

ChD
I see no reason for this to not get made. They promised us a trilogy and I think they will make this even if they suffer some tiny loses with the second movie, which I doubt will happen. They'll turn in some profit one way or another...
Guyver Spawn
The second movie has not made it to China yet. The second movie is selling a good amount of toys for the kids, toy sales will help a third movie get made too.
BK007
It will be made because it will still gross more than anything Dreamworks will put out til it comes out. They have nothing else to release that will make money.
Blankments
Maybe if you added anything valuable to the discussion? I'll reply here why that was the last straw since I refuse to open Mojoguy's post Mojo, you are blatantly saying you want the franchise to become the one thing everyone here should fear about. The only place where the Dragon movies occasionally miss in its humor. The appeal of the franchise is the emotional responses it gives us. Forbidden Friendship's goosebumps, Test Drive's adrenaline, Romantic Flight's euphoria, the shock of seeing Hiccup's lost leg in the first movie, and in the second movie, Hiccup and his mother reuniting, anything with Stoic and Valka, Stoic's death, and Hiccup saving Toothless. If the Dragon movies became a comedic franchise.... let's just say I consider you suggesting that to be on the same level as someone saying Nolan should've been kicked off the Batman franchise after Batman Begins didn't light the box office on fire (also you say "go back to." Dragon 1 wasn't comedic based, and thank the movie gods for that) Edited June 25, 2014 by Blankments
BK007
I wouldn't change anything in the Dragon franchise. Years from now, when everyone has forgotten Madagascar and Despicable Me, this will still remain. If they continue this form with Dragon 3, it will rival the greatest trilogies. It's like an animated LOTR.

KushAboveAll
If Finding Dory stays with its current release date, do you think HTTYD3 will be pushed to 2017 or a March release like the first one?
