They already mined stuff from Looking Glass in the first film - White Queen/Red Queen and all that. The plot will likely have nothing to do with the book other than the means of getting to Wonderland.

A literal adaption of the book seems impossible but I'd like to see someone tackle it sometime.

Burton's first AIW might as well been Alice 2 since it was already treated as a sequel to the original story.

 

Technically this new movie should be called Alice in Wonderland 3.

I don't think it will make less than 500m os no matter how bad it is. As for domestic numbers, I'm thinking 220ish.

So they pushed Pirates 5 to 2017 back so Johnny can have this drop 1st then Pirates 5 the next year so it will be like he's back on Top again?  Smart Disney, Smart.  Meanwhile he'll drop another crime drama inbetween that.

Very creative and daring of them to use the title from Lewis Caroll's sequel.

 

That this sequel actually has a classic book to base it's story on is an immense plus but then I remember how they "re-imagined"  the first book and....

It sounds like it might be a time travel story with them trying to kill little Alice so it's kind of the classic story along with a sequel to the Burton movie.

This will have a major drop, at least domestically. Overseas could be around the same due to expanding markets. The first film owes its box office success to Avatar. When I went to see it most of the folks waiting in line were more excited about seeing a 3D film again than they were the movie itself.

 

Without that push this will probably end up around Oz.

Depp was a bit grating in Alice and I'm completely over Jack Sparrow but I'll never begrudge his salaries because he's incredibly generous to charities.

I personally don't think Depp has been good for years. I think the last movie I truly enjoyed him in was Sweeny Todd and that was like 7 years ago.
