The first sentence does not belong with the rest of the paragraph. Yes, it is a very nice CGI shot (give that intern a bonus!) but a cool trailer shot does not a great movie make

LOL what? An intern didn't do that.

So is this shit supposed to be like if The Day After Tomorrow was scripted by the National Review?

I'm all for dumb fun but Gerard Butler is just the absolute worst. What a boring actor. This might actually be some real dumb fun if it had a better lead.

Where this movie's going, it won't need good acting

Large scale action movies like these don't need it, anyways

It has a better lead than Gerard Butler. It's called Disaster Porn.

Interesting, I kinda of heard about this a few years back.   Looks like Day After Tomorrow and 2012 had sex and had a baby, lol (Not saying those films set a high bareither).   I see you Devin.  Happy he's getting behind the camera.  Look the Disaster movie genre and market is still pretty solid and these guys own it best.  Not enough for more than one a year.   Yes Superhero and Action movies have taken up the disaster elements.   But these guys have made the genre what it is in the last 20 years.   Yes ID42 was a mess but it still made about 400 Million globally.  They put this during Halloween time though.  Don't know about that release date.   With that said I do like the idea of weather manipulation being explored.

Does anyone else want there to be an unconventional villain for this film? Like, instead of an evil AI, or a rogue terrorist or something, why not some nihilistic teenage hacker? For bonus points, make it a girl.

Don't have them ham it up, just have them give a really scary, detached kind of performance, like someone who's completely broken from reality and wants everyone to die. And Gerard Butler's character has to somehow talk her down.

With the right villain this could actually be a good movie. Like not just popcorn fun good, but legitimately 70s on Rotten Tomatoes good.

"Operation Popeye" was declassified and that happen during Nam.  So there are reports of it being done, of course this film will take it to the extreme but it's not a conspiracy theory fully.  I'm not saying we've learned to control nature.  The point of some of these programs were only to have the power to manipulate it.  Weather tampering or modification is technically banned by the UN but that doesn't mean people don't have secret programs.  I think the idea of having the power to change weather has always intrigued me.  This is why I love Storm's character so much in X-men.

By "on steroids" you mean "looks like the worst of them put together"?

Whatever happened to positive Telemachos? I liked him better. :P

I think it looks crazy fun. Clearly you disagree.
