OS-J 17m

Is this accounting for Turkey? That's the actual last market, and based on similar animation grosses and the depreciation of the lira, it should make another $1-3 million there. It'd be quite something if Turkey ends up being the country that pushes it over.

No. Was basing on existing markets.

Turkey can be the gravy on top:ph34r:

OS-J made 4m M-Th

It should do 5m+ on the weekend

Dom will do 7m for M-Sun.

Japan will do 9m M-Sun.

WW Total to be reported at 12pm EDT Sun

$933m

Dom 15m more

OS-J 17m

$965m

Japan needs to do $48m. Will be at 13m at the end of today. Looking at $12m Monday thru next sunday.

It's going to be close to 1B. And for that reason I say it's locked. @catlover hates when I lock thing early but....

You do realize it doesn't have to get $1B to reach 1B......

051102091--01creamy-chocolate-fudge-reci

Because Disney owns stock in hershey;)

That's true.

Even if Zootopia won't reach $1 billion, its guaranteed at least $985 million.

If I were a Disney exec, I would just use $15 million from the profits earned already to push it over $1 billion.

It will be such a "in your face" victory over rivaling studios... "its only May and we already have 2 movies on their way to billion worldwide gross... and we haven't even released star wars rogue one yet"

You can't usually buy that kind of marketing exposure with $15 million

Plus, the Cinderella film was obviously not marketed towards children...

Yes, Disney not marketed Cinderella towards children .... but attached Frozen Fever to it. A genial marketing strategy :)

Zoo daily.

This week it has 10,5M OS, almost all from Japan. This means that Zoo's run outside USA and Japan is ended. WW total is 920 without Japan and in the best case scenario there are 20M more to come. So the Japanese gross to put in safe the billion is 60/65M.

A lot to ask from Japan. Would have to hold exceptionally after Golden Week. But then again, we should wait until actual roll in tomorrow.

There seems to be a pretty big discrepancy between Zootopia's Sunday totals. Corpse has ¥345,000,000 while edroger3 only has ¥ 305,061,161. Which of those should be considered more accurate, and when and where will the actual total be known?

It depends by how the discount of the first of the month is calculated. BTW, according to Deadline, Zootopia is up 9% from OW, that means 4,5M$ instead of 4,8 (my estimate) and 5,2 (corpse estimate). We'll see.
